This photo makes me feel all uneasy inside.......
Bearings under muddy water..... :drooling:

The stream was very clear. The dirt you see is basically off the tires.

I took the front and rear hubs apart and cleaned the bearings and packed them with Mobile 1 Syn grease. Same thing to the rear derailleur rollers, one was ceramic and the other was sealed bearing. Cleaned the chain and lubed it up good. The only thing I was not sure about was the BB bearing, but when it spun yesterday afternoon, I did not hear anything. Not positive if that BB bearings are sealed 😱.

PS: Getting the rear tire to the shop to get it adjusted. The axle nut wont tighten properly.

i was getting more sick to the stomach seeing the mud on that rear wheel after riding 6 mile.

I would like to take this opportunity to bring this thread back on topic. I went out this morning and rode every trail of every park in the state of NJ, and they are all bad.

So, go do something else for a few days. Like play chess or paint your igloo.

Thanks!

What you got son?!

I was there this Saturday and the trails were completely frozen but very rutted... thank you, you made this even worse

is that so difficult to wake up early and start with sunrise?

This pas Saturday (1-23-10) 6-Mile was pretty bad. It was ride-able upto to the Concrete Bridge (by the pond) from the Rt-27 Lot, but after that, it was just clay that felt like glue.

The following is how my mike looked during the ride, and then after a quick wash and new tires, it looked sexy.

You da man Norm !!! Thanks

I know you will all say that I am just whining about trail abuse but please try to remember a few things:
1) It's a kick in the nutz to the guys and gals who work their asses off on these trails.
2) Our access is a privaledge, not a right.
3) Other users get pissed at trail ruts and complain to the land managers and they are doing so now.
4) Our actions today have a direct impact on our future access.

Sorry you had to see that Alex. We do appreciate the work you have done there as well as everyone else who has busted ass at 6 Miles.

I dont think this is whining Frank.....in fact I think everyone is being overly nice about the issue to those who cant seem to accept/grasp a simple idea....

I went to Clayton on Sunday Jan 24th and it sucked. Deep frozen ruts covered by a greasy top coat of mud. Once I realized how bad it was I went back to the car. Total ride, 10 minutes.

I left Clayton and went to Allaire. Allaire was in great shape.

OFF TOPIC:

1) I apologize to all JORBA members and volunteers who helped maintain the trails, especially 6-mile.

2) I agree people should not ruin the trails when its wet, cause I am one of those people who hate to ride on rutted trails. It just ruins everything.

3) I appreciate sarcasm and the bashing, I dont mind it cause I guess its deserving.

Norm, Frank, Alex my personal apologies to you all.

Stay Home

Totally agree with you. Stay home or just ride the roads. If your gonna hit the trails ride off of them. Its so bad out there and you just make them worse now. JORBA and others have put too much effort into this. The best way to describe the conditions is two words: Peanut Butter. Thats all that is gonna be stuck to your tires and gears. Not worth it. I hit Ringwood on Sat thinking it would be ok and it was a disaster. I actually at one point was thinking of shooting a flare gun to try to get someone to bail me out. I was knee deep in sh*t. I didnt have a flare gun but I wish I did.

I'm sure any further pile-ons would likely be only from people who've never ever ridden their MTB in muddy conditions, and who contribute religiously to TM efforts. The dude apologized.
