Ringwood was a blast today! Perfect snow conditions, even for lake riding.
Shepherds frozen...7in plus 2-3in of snow on top , so perfectly rideable without studs.

great to be back!!

but my ankle hurts after a few wipeouts...always landing on my left side, why i couldnt fall to the right 😡😡

and the wife just asked "why are you limping again?"....:hmmm:must hide it......i need an extra dose of advil tonight...

the best snow conditions one can have are at ringwood now...thats right the Italian Ice. firm base with grippy sugar like snow.
a couple of us bailed on wawayanda because we are babies, it was too hard for us to peddle through the deeper untracked snow.

+1 at Deer Park today!!! Conditions were absolutely PERFECT!!!! The best time yet in the snow.

Chris is right....Italian Ice with a sticky base. 10+ on the Fun-o-Meter!!!

While great riding conditions currently exist in many parts of NJ, temps are supposed to rise up into the 40's Thursday-Saturday. This could mean some possible thaw or snow melt up north.

Just a quick reminder to try and avoid riding soft trails. A good bet is ride early while the ground is still frozen or give road riding a try.

Please post up some conditions, and thanks for helping keep the trails in good shape ! 🙂

With 3 hours in the woods at Hartshorne on Saturday and then Allaire on Sunday, it was a two-beardsicle weekend for me!

Thanks for the photo Ellen, it was great to see you folks there.

It couldnt have been that cold, there arent any frozen boogers in the moustache🙄😀

Rode Lewis Morris

I rode lewis morris the other day. I just couldnt take looking at the red blinking lights on the eliptical machine anymore at the gym. To be honest, it sucked. I froze. My lungs almost shut down on me it was so cold. Brought an inhaler with me, that froze. Was wheezing the entire loop. I dont have studded tires either which could have helped. I got home and had to soak my hands and feet in warm water which stung like 1000 wasp stings. I'm still hacking up a lung from the ride. I think its supposed to hit 40 this weekend so I'll give it another shot.

Blue Mountain was great today (stay off the fire roads, THICK ice), and my local trails here are in awesome awesome riding condition. I can ride it faster in this snow than I can in the summer.

6-Mile is strangely dusty. It may be okay even with the above freezing temps predicted the next couple afternoons.

Entering from the 27 lot will be soft and the field section leading to blackwells will be as well. Thats where you will get dirty. If youre into that kinda thing.

Early this morning my tires were leaving a perfect imprint on a very fine, dusty looking cover on the trail. Maybe that’s what it would look like if I was riding on the Moon.:hmmm:

I was there this past weekend on Sat and Sun and though the same thing. The ground was definitely saturated before the cold air rolled in though. I would think even though its frozen it would still dry out a little bit... just seems to be logical to me.. not sure why. So I guess its really not logical.

Doesnt matter to me anyway. Ill be away on a beach in Jamaica drinking red stripe and enjoying the local vegetation.

tourne was pretty good today, we didnt slide around too much, but we got finished around 12:00 noon before it got too warm out 😀

This pas Saturday (1-23-10) 6-Mile was pretty bad. It was ride-able upto to the Concrete Bridge (by the pond) from the Rt-27 Lot, but after that, it was just clay that felt like glue.

The following is how my mike looked during the ride, and then after a quick wash and new tires, it looked sexy.
