tourne is not bad, still some snow in spots, and the usual spots are damp/wet, but everything i hit was rideable

Just rode by sixmile.. The water is up to the bottom of the bridge(between red trail entrance and the canal lot) Father down the road (between Jaques Ln and Suydam rd) is 2 ft under water in some spots) 2 idiots were stuck!! So my guess is that sixmile will be ridable by July if we are lucky😀

Mahlon Dickerson, 1/1

Oh, it was good this AM boys & girls...perhaps the best snow ride I've ever had. Lots of virgin show, plenty of traction, snow consistency that makes the "swoosh" sound (instead of the crunch).

Kind of surprising actually...everywhere the snow was cleared away (by hiker, biker, whatever) it appeared that there was a solid sheet of ice underneath the snow. But the snow is heavy and packs well, so traction wasn't an issue.

It was 32 degrees. It is 36 now and climbing...I fear that it might start getting a little mushy here soon. Tomorrows forecast is 25 degrees, so I'm hoping that it firms back up w/o a layer of ice on it for the rest of the weekend...we'll see.

1/3/10 Lewis Morris...

very tough ride today. Trails were frozen solid as expected but there was quite a bit of ice due to last weeks thaw. Studs would have helped on the uphill sections kept most of the riding on the fire roads as I could break new tracks for the best traction. It's going to be slick for several more days.

Clayton...

Perfect. Frozen, fast with very little snow (more ice but very rideable).

Just be careful buzzing down the hill that leads out to the fishing pond from the parking lot as the dirt trail is a block of ice so aim for the grass!!

Allaire was crazy good today. It was like riding a nice grippy cement skatepark on a bmx bike. I wish I could have stayed all day.

Stephen's is great right now. We rode a bunch of up on the Rt 80 side of the park, then dropped down to the twisties. The climbing involved a bit of walking due to steepness and untracked snow, but the descending in the untracked stuff was fun as all hell. The twisties are all very well ridden and packed down, so they're fast and somewhat grippy. There was only a tiny bit of evidence of melt in the mid-day sun, and only a couple of short stretches of ice singletrack that were a tiny bit sketchy. Get it while it's good.

Tourne was good today for the most part, couple icy patches on the fireroad by McAffrey lane lot, but other than that was pretty well packed down and grippy

anyone interested in joining me for my return trip tomorrow??

Last week end I saw some kids wiping the snow off the ice on the fire road near McCaffrey.

Coming down from Top of Tourne is Icey too. Luckily I only slid 15 feet.

Santa forgot the studded tires, but I think there a worthwhile investment🙂

extremes or bust!

I was running in Allaire Last Wednesday. After the Orange and Blue. I was gonna head to the Other Side of Hospital Rd. and the County Sheriff was parked right where I wanted to enter the other side

Do you (LC) still ride w/the guy on the Heckler w/the green Van (Marty?)

I stay at Crystal Point sometimes and even MTB from there to Allaire:popcorn:

How was the Coke beyond the first bridge? I rode the skinnies yesterday, the first Bridge was a little washed out so I turned around.

the 1st bridge was a little beat up and so was the 3rd(?). there was also water flow dissecting the trail but the base of it was firm enough to ride through. nov & dec rains beat coke up.

To the best of my knowledge you can ride the other side of the park ( the Pink trail ) which is also maintained by ATUG. The wildlife management area is still out of bounds. I rode Allaire Tuesday, and did a run thru Hartshorn today. Allaire is almost as good as it gets, and Hartshorn is frozen and fast. The only negatives were all the frozen ruts.

Little Jimmy @ Ringwood

the best snow conditions one can have are at ringwood now...thats right the Italian Ice. firm base with grippy sugar like snow.
a couple of us bailed on wawayanda because we are babies, it was too hard for us to peddle through the deeper untracked snow.
