I had that picture norm!

For those looking for clarification on this interrobang (get your mind out of the gutter!) here:

A sentence ending with an interrobang either (1) asks a question in an excited manner, (2) expresses excitement or disbelief in the form of a question, or (3) asks a rhetorical question.

For example:

How much did you spend on those winter shoes‽
You're going riding with whom‽
They did what‽
 
it was...

points, well made and taken with respect*..
you never come off as disliking people or disrepectful... actually quite the opposite

interrobang - how many scrabble points would that be?


bring on the snow.... cause its gonna heat up in here!

seriously, i think i hate this thread.

but at the same time it's good to have something like this where we can explain why we do things the way we do. there's really no need to elaborate on why we put people in the "box" and why it seems to happen like [size=-3]the[/size] clockwork [size=-3]orange[/size] every year about this time.

An open discussion about the method behind the madness is a good thing. I never want to be the "my way or the highway" moderators. I really dislike deleting posts (that aren't spam) so this thread is quite useful in that regard.

It probably gets more attention than we like but that's the game we play when this is the view outside my office window:

I tried to not post in this thread, but... could we get it out of General Bike Talk and put it somewhere with less traffic, like the 'Suggestions' forum? just so it isn't the first thing you see all the time on one of the busiest forums... it's honestly annoying at this point.

‽: The Dreaded Interrobang

On Windows XP, using Internet Explorer. I could not see any of your Interrobangs.

Interrobang is a unicode character and you need to speciy it as such so folks on other platforms can seem the dreaded character. Here it is in all of its glory using Lucida Sans Unicode:

You learn something new each day. I have over 20 years typsetting experience almost dating back to hot type. I have worked with all the greek entites and typeset in several language and today is the first day I ever came accross the Interrobang.

Maybe they use it if they can't decide if it is a question or an exclamation‽

I won't bother defending the guy because in just a handful of posts, his attitude was revealed as clearly awful and this last post was really ugly. I guess I would hope he got a warning first though.
