OK, rtalk, 30' from there is a wooden bridge that is 5? times as long as the concrete section. Why not just build a bridge using the concrete as a foundation? Leave 3' clearance between the concrete and the runners for the wooden bridge to allow for debris. The obvious issue is a large log...

Remember when the area leading to the concrete bridge from Rt 27 was a swamp with a bunch of broken pallets for a “bridge?” And the middlebush side of the concrete bridge (where the boardwalk is now) was like six inches thick of red clay peanut butter. It was wonderful.

Yellow was nuts. Mud and then a long elevated section that was a disaster. Back when there was a teeter totter.

Yeah it was. Of course, there was the ridiculously dangerous A-frame built over a fallen tree right near where the log bridge was too… I think @alex_k had a run in with that feature.

I still can’t decide which of those 2 made my sphincter clench more

Im sure the trail is still there but you can bypass it with just a little creek crossing and through the old Lane Robbins woods.

This is the work of the park staff. This bridge is a solid 6 feet off the water. It’s an obvious solution that keeps the bridge from being closed.

Im happy its there. Now i have something to hold on to. I hate crossing that bridge. I always feel like im going to fall off

Wasn't it was a bunch of cedar logs screwed together and was like 18" wide?
