The second was Porno For Pyros. Not terrible but not JA caliber, IMO.

I think Fred gave up.

If you're into following PF, Songs Yet to Be Sung is a really good album but it's not linear with the JA stuff. It's more electronica but good nonetheless.

Oh and is this the direction your training has gone?

Well my gf happend to be looking at the screen when i opened up the pic that jeff posted. She said "o...thats what you guys talk about?" I said "i dont even know what that is"

That is where i gave up...not that i even had a chance.

wow, i forgot all about this. sheesh, see what tequila will do. take these last few posts as a warning kids: tequila will make you...HAPPY! 😀

it is hot today as you all are pretty well aware. i had a lot to do this am so i didn't get a ride in...but managed to run somewhere between six and seven miles around noon. wicked smaaaat.

it wasn't supposed to be that far but the road by my house just closed for construction so i had to detour. hopefully tomorrow am i'll be back on the road bike. i've been slacking with keeping this up to date with the GPS data but whatever. it's not like anyone is counting on my motionbased information to go anywhere.

ran about five miles again today. i have had no desire what so ever to get on the road bike. not sure why...but i also don't want my cardio to suffer which will severely limit my mtb fun factor. so, i do like forrest and i run. i'm actually amazed at how much i'm able to run. i haven't run with any frequency in at least seven years...since i was training for the sprint triathalon in hyannis...and to just be able to up and run four, five or six miles is amazing to me. haven't been able to do that since college. maybe on the road bike tomorrow, maybe not. definitely lots of mtb action this weekend. will it be mahlon? deer park? KVSP? da 'mooch? only time will tell.

training update

well, not much real "training" going on these days. i have been running and riding a fair amount but since i decided to not do the DH40 my actual "training" plan flopped. eh, there's always next year which at this point is what i'm going to focus on in terms of my training. setting my sights on the darkhorse 40 on the SS for next year. no H2H races at all, maybe some other distance races, we'll see how it goes. this was really another transitional year for me...going from a strength athlete to an endurance athlete. even after eight months and 35 lbs i'm still a tick over 200 which makes dragging my body around the woods or up long hills a pretty daunting task. i'll lay out my plans for 2008 in another edition of 'my useless thoughts on a useless subject', but i suppose it's safe to say that my original goal of "ripping heythorp's legs off" on the needle isn't going to happen. i'm sure he'll be thrilled to read me admit that defeat.

anyway, i know i haven't updated this in awhile and i don't remember what i have and haven't put in so i'm just going to put yesterday's mahlon loop in. what a great ride! data:

ytc, alex, jason (yes, that jason!), shaggz, cem and "new" guy blair. did some of the same stuff that i did last time i rode mahlon but with a few more miles kicked in. i went OTB about a mile in which i didn't think was going to be a good omen but it turned out fine. i love riding the SS but holy crikey, after 12 miles on a rigid bike my body was screaming. my hands were cramping, my legs were cramping...but FUN, FUN, FUN. i have so much respect for sean b/c riding that rigid SS all the time is hard work. but, i also have to admit, i have a ton of fun on it.

thanks again to alex for the sherpa detail, and it was great to finally ride with ya'll again!

one more detail...

i almost forgot the frightening part of the ride yesterday. i'm not sure what trail we were on...nasty, rocky downhill that dumps you out at a couple of stream crossings. anyway, i start hearing this horrible rattling and have no idea what it is. i just know something is VERY wrong and i should try to slow down and check it out. finally i get enough control over the bike to get to the side of the trail. i look down and what do i see? well, my purty new blue salsa QR on the front is just hanging open. the front wheel was just about to come off! 😱

i have no idea how it happened but i cannot imagine going OTB on that trail. very scary. that thing is clamped nice and tight now.
