training update
well, not much real "training" going on these days. i have been running and riding a fair amount but since i decided to not do the DH40 my actual "training" plan flopped. eh, there's always next year which at this point is what i'm going to focus on in terms of my training. setting my sights on the darkhorse 40 on the SS for next year. no H2H races at all, maybe some other distance races, we'll see how it goes. this was really another transitional year for me...going from a strength athlete to an endurance athlete. even after eight months and 35 lbs i'm still a tick over 200 which makes dragging my body around the woods or up long hills a pretty daunting task. i'll lay out my plans for 2008 in another edition of 'my useless thoughts on a useless subject', but i suppose it's safe to say that my original goal of "ripping heythorp's legs off" on the needle isn't going to happen. i'm sure he'll be thrilled to read me admit that defeat.
anyway, i know i haven't updated this in awhile and i don't remember what i have and haven't put in so i'm just going to put yesterday's mahlon loop in. what a great ride! data:

ytc, alex, jason (yes, that jason!), shaggz, cem and "new" guy blair. did some of the same stuff that i did last time i rode mahlon but with a few more miles kicked in. i went OTB about a mile in which i didn't think was going to be a good omen but it turned out fine. i love riding the SS but holy crikey, after 12 miles on a rigid bike my body was screaming. my hands were cramping, my legs were cramping...but FUN, FUN, FUN. i have so much respect for sean b/c riding that rigid SS all the time is hard work. but, i also have to admit, i have a ton of fun on it.
thanks again to alex for the sherpa detail, and it was great to finally ride with ya'll again!
