Mob Wars on Facebook...

Getting Hitlisted: You lose experience points, and maybe money, if it has not been deposited in the bank. This can be frustrating, especially when you are close to moving up to the next level. It may also cost you more if you continually have to go tot he hospital to get healed for fighting.

Members: At one point, I tried to add members when I was ready to arm them. I was doing it in blocks of 5. Managing that gets cumbersome after awhile, especially when you are getting your ass kicked and you are scrambling for more numbers.

Tip: I tend to run my energy down at the end of a session, by fighting and not getting healed. Ideally, I go to the hospital, where I can not be attacked, but only punched or hitlisted. It sucks to leave Health Points on the table, and to come back in later to find they were sapped by fights.

Things to look forward to:
Car Bomgs - Alcohol > Molitov Cocktail > Rig Ignition. If someone is constantly messing with you, you can rig their ignition. Basically, it is immdiate retailaition, if they fight, punch or hitlist you. Costs the same as a hit, but they get killed as soon as they go after you.

Final Punch - Real cool! Someone did this to me once, after I claimed a $3Bill bounty. She beat the crap out of me, sent me to the Hospital, punched me in the face, and after I did not die, she Final Punched me. Not too sure what level that becomes available...

I've rocketed up to 33 mob members from 8 yesterday with another bunch of invites out. Right now I need to arm my mob before I ask more people in. Profile surfing works very well.

What's the downside of getting hitlisted and/or killed? What do you lose?

You do not have to equip your mob. I believe each mob member has an attack and defense value of 1. there is no reason to stop invites. Equip them as you can later.

When hitlisted, other mobs will fight you until your health is at 0. You do not have the protection of the Hospital if you are on the HitList. Once killed you have to wait for your health to regenerate. You may also loose cash that is not in your bank. It will also count as a fight lost in your record. Not that big a deal really.

The guy who was on the hitlist for an hour last night was obviously very powerful. Other mobs were fighting him but he was winning. Although he was winning fights, he was taking damage so he slowly got taken out. I wonder how many battles it took to defeat him?

Good stuff Steve. If the game has 1 shortcoming it's that the early stages of the game aren't sexy enough to keep interest. Now I'm starting to quadruple fight mobs for a profit of $280k and it's much more fun. The idea of more to come is good.

Ok, so my question - if you know - is this. Do the weaker members "water down" my overall strength or are more members only going to help? If so, I'll just add like nuts.

The longest I had ever seen anyone on the hitlist was about a minute. This guy must have been there an hour. Crazy.

a body is a body. i didn't like the game at first. i found mafia wars to be more exciting. once i realized the strategies, it got more exciting. surfing the hitlist adds a new dimension to the game. your first billion dollar hit is a rush. however, that's when the pissing matches really start :getsome:

Been playing since December. Pure....all members of my Mob are friends of mine. Wanted to see how well I could do without 'cheating' by adding strangers. Well, everybody else adds strangers...so it aint goin so well, but I have found a new way to make it fun!

I am level 47 20 in my mafia with tons of property & income of 19,074,612/hour.

I get beat up on constantly. I then hitlist & suckerpunch whoever beat up on me as often as I can for days. :D

Adding additional mob member can't hurt your overall mob strength. In theory, a fight begins with each mob member grabbing the best weapon, armor, and vehicle he can get. As the most powerful items run out, the member take the next best item in the stockpile. If you mob is larger than it's items, the members fight with bare hands.

I don't know the actual formulas but I suspect it goes something like this.
item Attack strength Defense strength
Mob member..................1.................................1
Gun..............................6.................................2
Armor............................4................................6
Vehicle..........................2.................................4
...................................13..............................13

Repeat that for each mob member and then find the sum of your mob. This total will determine who wins the fight and how much damage each mob inflicts on the other.

A mob of 500 members using bare hands has a attack/def total of 500/500. That mob will beat others with a lesser attack/def total.

What's the point of buying a HIghrise Apartment? Cost is 12 times more than a hotel yet only brings in 5 times as much. Seems to make no sense.

At some point, it does. The more that you own of one piece of property, the higher the price goes on the next purchase. At one point, the ROI will be better on that Hi Rise vs the Apartments. You also need to factor the unit costs of the undeveloped land into the equation when you buy on larger scale. It also helps buy properties in groups of 5 or 10, in order to take advantage of the "lower" price.

OK so I got this terrible head cold

and stayed home from work. As a result, my mob is up to 44 and I'm at level 12.

The only downside is that I can't seem to amass cash quickly enough to really equip my mob or buy property appropriately. Seems like cash is really hard to come by. In a good fight, I'll get $3k from a guy, but it seems like I spend too much time attacking someone and gettign $0-$800. Waste of time and health.

Got retaliated against and punched in the face already, though, so I'm at least making a splash.

Any tips for upping income quickly?

Just be patient. I thought the same thing but things got better aroung level 16 or so. Think about the people you can fight - level 12 people in the same boat as you. They can't make much money yet. So you fight them but they have squat. In a few more levels that won't be as much of a problem.

Follow Ben's adice from above. I've gotten to the point now where I buy what he suggested for each mob member. I also go to the fight page and look into only tycoons. Then I only fight if they have a casino and less than a 60% win record. If they are a small mob then I'll fight anyone. If it's 50 or less I'll look at their win percentage.

Since I started taking these steps I'm probably an 80% success fighter. I occasionally fight random people stronger than me (on paper) just for shits and giggles. Eventually you will bag $70k in a fight in the next 24-48 hours. Then you'll be fighting the same guy 4 times in a row to try and get $280k. Then it all starts to really go downhill fast.

Perfect example. After I wrote this I found a Level 20 Tycoon with a casino and a 40-270 record. That's just instant money right there.

Growing the Mob

I found a less labor intensive method of adding mob members:

I post a short note, such as "Add me. Then click the "Join my Mob" link on my profile page - won't cost an invite!" on the MW discussion board. Then the friend requests roll in.

I find it less time consuming to have ppl add & invite me than the other way around. I'll get 5-10 hits per post, and the board refreshes so quickly that I can post about every 5 minutes, if I wanted to.

Current mob size is 107 and counting. Still desperately cash strapped, though (level 13 tycoon with no money for equipment or property).

While that is correct, a smart mob will bank his income quickly so that he does not loose so much in each fight.

I'm finding that these guys with casinos and bad fight ratios are becoming smarter. They may not care about winning fights just as long as they keep their money in the bank. Money in the bank can't be taken away.

Surf the Hitlist. I just made $4.78 Bill in hits this AM. I don't put $$ into the bank only more, as it gets too expensive. Even if someone retaliates, it is usually $100K per hit, and I run close to "Hospital" levels anyway, so it is not much of a loss.

I found a formula of 20& expenses to Income worked well for arming the Mob at lower levels. I'm currently at 14.6%:
The City (Income: $53,480,800, Upkeep: $7,802,200)
Cash Flow: $45,678,600 every 54 minutes. Next paid in: 13 minutes
