6th Annual CRANKS AROUND THE CAMPFIRE 8/26-8/28/2016

Does anyone know if there are rustic cabins available for our family to stay in? I emailed them weeks ago but there has been no reply.

Never got your message, sorry about that. There are cabins but they are for groups. We could work something out for groups 10+ if there is interest.

Most of the sites have a covered roofed pavilion with picnic tables under. There are also wooden tent platforms so the tents are out of the dirt. Sites also have a roofed wash up area with running water and trough.

I'm bummed that I am going to miss out on this. Would have totally been into the Marty's bikepacking party and camping option.

I haven't been camping since my son was in boyscouts but the first bullet point on page 1 caught my eye: Free firewood! I've never heard of anyone buying firewood for camping - is scavenging downed wood not allowed anymore??

Any busy campground will have been stripped of any good burning material by previous users. Many parks are issuing tickets to those that cut anything for burning. Big fines can be associated with that. I've been camping occasionally with my kids in the last 15 years and always have to buy $5 bundles as I'm approaching the campgrounds.

Major props to the Cranks team to offer the wood for free. I become a pyro for a few days with my kids.

Ah that makes sense. I'm used to more "wilderness" camping

There are also free rocks, dirt, good times, sky, stars, poison ivy, mosquitos, and ice.(stock your cooler before coming but when you run out, no need to leave camp). But the real reason I am posting is to mention the free, Hot Showers! Such luxury.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing shower facilities! So much better than when they had the old 24-hours of Allamuchy back in the 90s!

Last year I though I had a ton of mosquito bites but they hung around for like 2 weeks and weren't poison ivy ... chiggers maybe.

This sounds awesome, especially since I work 10 minutes from all these parks now and have never ridden there. Still camping spots left!?

The camp is huge! No worries about it selling out! You won't be disappointed, best way to discover what these trails have to offer!

UPDATE! Cognition Endurance Sports Coaching will be offering 3 free clinics during the Cranks weekend!

Friday afternoon-Fundamentals
Saturday afternoon-Intermediate Skills
Sunday Morning-Advanced skills

We will also be adding additional rides for Friday afternoon. Riders can choose from Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced level rides.

Working on finalized schedule and will post when completed!

Looking forward to this weekend!
Dan, do you have a schedule of other/kids activities as of yet?
I'm coming with another family- 5 kids total ranging ages from 5 to 13. I want to try to map out rides and a plan for other activities. I know last year there were some little kid fishing and crafts etc. This was a huge help for getting the older kids out onto a group ride. Thanks!

There will be a kids activity session Saturday and Sunday Morning from 8:45 to 11:30. There will be fishing, crafts, hiking, and kids rides. The featured group rides will coincide with these sessions so parents can get out to ride together if they want to. I'll post the final schedule this evening here and on the www.rideallamuchy.com website.

Saturday at 1:00pm, I'll be discussing merits and mysteries of TUBELESS TIRES. Stan's NoTubes has been kind enuf to donate supplies and giveaway bottles. There is at least a 50% chance folks will leave the presentation convinced that tires of any kind are a bad idea, but I'm willing to risk it if you are.
