Allaire route on the trainer.
Facing the Rules Lawyers seemed safer than facing the weather since a tornado threw a tree at my house last time a "severe thunderstorm" was in the forecast.
Canal side 6Mile loop and I was cooked. Not sure if it was the ungodly humidity or first week fatigue setting in. Vacation ends today, back to reality tomorrow.
After taking off riding yesterday for my 28th wedding anniversary I had time to ride today but expected to be on the trainer with a “no ride”. Set the alarm for the usual time to discover the radar clear until around 11:30 (allegedly ).
Decided today would be a “tempo” day to stretch the legs and burn off all the food and drinks from last night but I had to be back by 11 to go with the wife to see her mom.
Legs felt great but was worried I hit the first hour a little too hard. I stopped for a quick snack break around mile 25 and I was completely dripping drenched soaking wet from the humidity. Turned on the afterburners for the return loop and was rewarded with a few good PRs riding solo today where before I was with some others.
Since I was making great time around mile 40 I had thoughts to extend the ride for a metric but I hit rain at mile 45 right around 10:30 ish. Lucky for me it was mild on and off little showers which actually felt good but at that point no need to risk the the pending Tstorms coming. Right as I got in the garage the skies literally opened up for 20-30 minutes with thunder and lighting. Such a bummer because I totally could have kept going but was glad to even get outdoors at all today.

Almost didn't happen today. After finally getting home from a busy day with the kids, it stormed for a few hours. Finally let up around 9pm and I headed out the door shortly after 10. Took a fat tire ride through the developments in the area to keep it nice and easy.
Busy schedule today: Drop off a check, bring the oldest kid to his AP summer course, bring the youngest to her doctor checkup, and then a work call at 1. So just did the minimum-ish.
And finally posted a video I made last week when I should have been cutting the grass instead of riding my bike. I did however cut a 3' wide path from my driveway to the backdoor yesterday. Now my derailleur can rest easy.
I had to ride early in order to get a ride in as I was going to be out of town all day traveling down to Point Pleasant for lunch. It was actually a bit cool at 7:30am, although it quickly warmed up by 9am.
I was also fortunate to ride before the air quality deteriorated significantly.

Ride #10
The first hour of my ride was rolling around Cape May with this crowd.
The second part of my ride was reliving a punishment. When I was 17yrs old I got in some trouble and my parents took my car away. I was living at the Angel of the Sea B&B in Cape May but going to school at Wildwood High School. Each morning my parents made me ride my bike to school, rain or shine, with all my books on my back. It is about 8.5 miles one way along the causeway. Flat as can be except for the two bridges. Back then it seemed like 20 miles. Today I did it in 35mins without effort. Very different perspective and experience 34 years later. Grateful for that punishment because it was the origin of my love of riding.
