23/31: Woke up early with the intention of joining the Nassau ride. Hit snooze instead, last night's Tricky Tray took a lot out of me. Left the house to do my original plan of Mah-Dick proper. Too lazy to drive past the Park and Ride, so I did a modified Laddey Loop .
Started getting an itch for a new bike recently. I like this bike, don't love. Realized it's mostly due to the awful fork settings so I ran 7 or so runs at one of my most frequent sections of trail this morning doing some bracketing. It's got flow, punchy climbs, loose rock gardens, a small rock roll and a couple 2' drops so it's a decent place to test.
I also compared the geo to some of the hype frames (Revel Ranger and Transition Spur) only to find out they're super similar to what I have now. So anyway, spending an hour bracketing is well worth the effort of lugging a caliper, shock pump and notebook into the woods.
NEWSFLASH! I actually rode a MTB today on real trails. Not even a gravel ride.
Still smiling from todays MTBNJ group ride seeing all the cool peeps IRL and getting a great ride in at Nassau it went much better than I thought it would. Good confidence builder. Even got 2 rolling easy runs down Blue At the flow trail (a bit terrifying but I didn’t die so that’s good. )

Decided to take advantage of the free access to island beach state park. Only my second ride this month that was not out the garage door. Kept the ride to an hour as need to get back home for softball tonight.
Water was very clear and refreshing on a hot day. Saw lots of rays in the surf. Even had a shark blimp sighting.
Someone posted a comment on my Strava link, "Thanks again norm prob one of my most enjoyable MTB rides ever," which is about the best thing someone can say about a ride you lead. This is now what it's about for us as a team. Bringing the enjoyment of mountain biking to people that want to drink the Kool-Aid. Even though it was pretty hot today, we had a solid 30 people drinking the Nassau Kool-Aid. It was a good day for Kool-Aid, both literally and figuratively.
I suppose I'll say once again that it really wasn't too odious out. The woods were fine and the shade after the ride was comfortable. The lot in the full sun was another story.
16th mountain bike ride of the month which checks the box of more dirt than road in July. I will now enjoy the AC because it sure is hot outside.
23/31 Had to wait for it to warm up outside
No pics for today as I was in a bit of a rush, so here is a pic of Rudy. https://strava.app.link/kxwIsjwfUrb
Mercer with the nica kids. Man it was hot, no kids obtained heat stroke, which is always a plus. We took it easy and sessioned some stuff. https://strava.app.link/Anuzseg2Trb

Day 22 riding. Rode from Main St. Lake Placid to the Lussi & Logger Trails just out of town while all the peacock triathletes parade around the day before their big dance.

Decided to get up super duper early to ride before it got too hot. I’m not good at doing anything early, so starting a ride when the moon was still out was a feat in itself.
Saw a hot air balloon with people who had the same idea as we did. Started off good, but my first big girl ride of the year slowly became a slog shortly after we saw some familiar faces up in Sourlands.
Thankfully I had a little outside help up some of the climbs when my legs would not shut up. It was a nice ride and I’ll admit I enjoyed riding when the world was a bit quieter.
Day 21/20+ Flow trails with Johnny and Beck. Had the trails all to ourselves and serenaded by a live cover band playing at the park. Capped it off with wings at The Chelsea. https://strava.app.link/0rlYUezzUrb
