In for an interesting tasting tonight. Not first grand Cru but not plonk either. 😁
It's a '71 vs a '12 if not legible.

Sadly the 71 was really tired and really had no similar characteristics to the 12. There was a lot of earthy funk up front but it only had a few hours of air after decanting. Beyond that, tannins fully resolved, very little acidity and totally tertiary at this point. I think it may have a slight chance to develop a bit more and will try again tomorrow.Love it. If the 71 has anything left, that would be awesome!
Couple that I'm catching up in

As expected, the Peju was on the wrong side of the curve, Schrade is snuggled in a safe spot, the Grillo was fantastic but should have gone with something with more avid for the meal, and laat 2 are from a TPWC wine dinner we hosted.
I realize it can sometimes be difficult to compare given the bottle size variation but really curious what your take was on the different vintages of Tignanello. So BiL likes his wine, and if the occasion is special, it’s got to be Tig.
Annual Xmas dinner with his crew, I counted 8 corks, one of which was a magnum

Good wines, great dinner and stellar company, with @SmooveP, @jmanic and our much better halves. The 18 messes was 2011 and the Trinitas was '12, both hitting their stride.
