The Guitar Player Thread.

It's a vox amp with effects and various "amps" built in. Got used for $50 (score!!). As much as I am learning the guitar, I am also playing around with the myriad sounds on the amp. So honestly can't remember what affects (probably chorus or flanger with some reverb). I find I don't like lots of reverb but I think I used more than usual for that one.

The other players on here are so freaking talented I feel like a complete hack posting my vids (not being modest - but accurate). Nonetheless, here's another one ....

Reminds me of "The Sunday's" a bit

you got a good ear. and its not just a little bit. I love The Sundays and frankly, they probably have had the biggest influence on my guitar playing. while the 1st and 3rd "songs" I posted are entirely original, The Sundays would have a valid plagiarism claim on the 2nd as I "borrowed" chords and chord sequences

I've always been a sucker for ultra-bright "chimey" guitars, pretty chords and waify females vocals. The Sundays hit all three.

Alright,

Getting ready to take lessons, will probably go with something convenient that I can do after work or on my lunch hour......basically something that fits into my schedule of wife, family, work, work on house & ride.

I have not taken lessons for ten years or so, even then they were sporadic.

At this point whomever I take lessons from I will learn something, I just need direction.

At this point I have no real defined genre I like to play , probably some classic rock and 90's grunge. I am usual afraid to go below the 12th fret for some reason😕

What is the etiquette for lessons these days? Can I go bi-weekly?

What is the going rate?

I hate pursing something I suck at, but I love to tinker with the instrument.
60/hr once a week, sometimes every 2 weeks. $30/hr group lesson, very fun to work out with others. Riding to Allaire now. Will put up flyers all over the woods.

Wrote this disco tune today. Really-really enjoying playing bass these days. Have played guitar most of my life but never owned a bass till less than a year ago. And now I have two.

The paintings were done by Megan back when she was in college. She's got a lot of them and they are huge.

Wish I had a drumset. Although slapping on a big wooden rectangle is still fun.

a guy i played with had a 335. i have a soft spot for them.

Me too. It is the ideal guitar for me and the styles of music I play. For the time being, I play a poor man's 335 - a Sheraton II. It's actually not a bad semi-hollow box, but it doesn't say Gibson on the headstock.

That Jazzmaster is looking Primo, Both the Jazzmaster and 335 should fetch in excess of $4k for their vintage, I only say that low as I am not how well marketed that auction is.

these estate sale things are crazy. i am signed up for alerts for a few things, trumpets, guitars, moto stuff. sometimes they get way more than i would ever pay. other times, you land a bargain and a half. i snagged an early 1900s banjolin for $40 once. by far the strangest instrument i ever picked up off of an estate sale.

right now i'm looking for trumpet mouthpieces. i gotta get my range up higher, so if any of you guys that know any players willing to part with a 3c for cheap, lemme know. i can pick a new one up at dillons, but i don't feel like dropping $100 to go up a minor third.
