The Guitar Player Thread.

these estate sale things are crazy. i am signed up for alerts for a few things, trumpets, guitars, moto stuff. sometimes they get way more than i would ever pay. other times, you land a bargain and a half. i snagged an early 1900s banjolin for $40 once. by far the strangest instrument i ever picked up off of an estate sale.

right now i'm looking for trumpet mouthpieces. i gotta get my range up higher, so if any of you guys that know any players willing to part with a 3c for cheap, lemme know. i can pick a new one up at dillons, but i don't feel like dropping $100 to go up a minor third.

I have a Schilke 14A4a that is comparable to the Bach 3C that I could sell you if you're interested.

An end of the night instrumental Jam on this Maceo Parker riff we like to bust out sometimes. My man Mark on the keys kills it at 2:35.

Iv'e been playing with these bros for 12 years now but sadly we've really lost steam over the course of the last year. Everyone is involved with multiple other musical projects and we just can't seem to get our schedules to work anymore.

(not sure why my camera recorded in black and white. That was unnintentional)

Uptown Up

Here's a better way than sweeping. Economy picking. It's a sweep on the downstroke, then alternative picked the other way. I like it because it makes it sound like it's all picked and the notes are all clear. When you sweep a lot of times the notes all blend together like a chord, so you need to change the pressure of your left hand. I find it hard to do fast and clean. Economy helps in all kinds of situations. In the previous video I swept the upstroke and picked the down to give more emphasis to arpeggios.

You would like the clips where I'm playing and my kids get stuff out of the fridge behind me.
