The Guitar Player Thread.

Where have you been!!?? We've been posting Archspire content for years!!

And this is amazing. These dudes are all super cool. He'll have a blast. Tell him to hook me up when he comes back to the US. I've been learning that album for like, since the day it came out 🤣

wow no way!

it's not really my scene or his, but I had a feeling you or someone on this thread would know them.

If i was back in my 20's this would be an unreal opportunity, but as the parent I am of course worried all the bad things will happen. I guess maybe I can get a free Tshirt or something 😛

Go back like 2 pages and look at the post where I almost bought a Dean Lamb Signature 🤣

I’ve been a Production Manager/ Sound Engineer / Stagehand almost as long as your son has been alive…how did he get a gig with one of my favorite bands?! Where did I go wrong!? Oh yea…marriage…marriage is where I went wrong 🤣. Whats his position?

He doesn't know who they are though. Maybe that's the same as what you did. My cousin is a Tour Manager also and he's never worked with a band he likes. The only person I know to do it was my Drummer who became the Drum Tech for Biohazard and Soundboard Guy at Starland. He was living the dream but now he makes like 10x more money setting up poop for huge corporations to have meetings 🤣

I’m pretty sure we met last summer when you were having your yard sale and I grabbed some tires I was with my youngest son then.

Anyway my middle one has been doing this stuff since he’s in 6th grade all the way thru HS age they have a great program in my school district. He learned how to design stage lighting for the drama club shows and also his good friend taught him some audio stuff. after he graduated they hired him as a part time employee he’s been learning more sound and lighting and video production too.

One of his mentors at the HS has done some touring with various bands in the past and also plays mad drums. I think He’s the tour manager for Archspire and they needed help with general stuff and some lighting (I think). This all developed last summer and a few weeks ago boom he has a passport and a plane ticket.

This is my life. Corporations have more money than all of our favorite bands combined and in many scenarios they are legally required to put on big public facing investor meetings where they sink a million dollars into a 2 hour event and then write the whole thing off at the end of the year. Trust me, I’d rather be in a grimy ass club mixing death metal but there’s just no money there in the long run.

Since I moved back home I reached out to the local venue about engineering some shows and they said they didn’t think they could afford me…. Since I’ve been here they’ve had Cannibal Corpse, Lorna Shore, Norma Jean, etc…. I don’t even need to get paid I just want mix my idols lol.

That’s freakin awesome. And yes, that was my yard sale lol. Too bad I didn’t get to meet the older brother; I had my first sound gig when I was 16 and I’ve played pretty much every other production roll there is since then, woulda been cool to chat!

Also wouldn't mind getting "re-inserted" into the fold somehow...

One of the guys that my son learned from now does this very type job supporting town hall meetings events and video calls. At the same company that laid me off in 2019.

What’s funny is that back 3 years ago when my son was graduating i told him this could be a career path option. It’s not something he’s ruled out but he’s getting more experience at some other places first.

One other part time gig he has is the house lighting designer for this place. He’s making a ton of other connections here too already got 2 side gigs off working here.

Soon I might go work for him 🤪

Ok so back to some guitar playing.

As mentioned above my 16 year old son Zach has been playing Bass since the 6th grade. The School district here has an incredible program for rock and roll academy and they do 2 concerts a year. This band is one of three that he’s in. This band is not a formal class he and 3 of his friends formed it together and meet at lunch time. Hence the band name.

Proud dad moment they took the house down with this one sorry not sorry for dad yelling. Yes they are only 15 and 16 years old.
Hopefully this link works here.

AmPlug mod version 3.0.

After breaking 2 of the V1.0, we, and by "we" I mean Eric, made a beefier version (that also failed) So here's a more robust and easily repairable 3rd Version...

Been off the bike for over a month with a knee replacement. I was gifted this guitar, so I’ve been playing on alternating days.

How Long till your left fingers don’t hurt all the time?

Beet doing the guitargate online course and I’ve had a couple of private lessons.

I literally hear music a bit differently these days.

Endless thanks to @capers for the encouragement and guidance

I have a million miles to go, but I think I’m hooked.
