The new Chimaira dropped on Tuesday.

The Infection

Sick.

By far, my favorite Metal band

The Impossibility of Reason is their best CD... so if you never listened and are gonna DL a torrent or something... grab that one.

Nice. The Obsessed rule. Wino rules. He has done quite a few cool projects over the years.
I didn't get serious about checking out his stuff till The Hidden Hand, but I've since gone back to the earlier projects. Lately, it's been the live St. Vitus getting the play.

Check out his solo album if you haven't yet, it's cool to hear him doing his thing with the drummer from Clutch behind him.

St. Vitus "Born Too Late", one of my favorites. I have seen him with Hidden Hand and Spirit Caravan.
Gotta check out the solo thing...

Opeth this past Friday

Anyone else check these guys out at Starland a couple of nights ago?

Goddamn great show. Love these guys and they are incredible live. Not only that, but I wasn't even the oldest guy in the club.

Coming back around in NYC later this month. May get to that one too...

New additions to the playlist:
-Kylesa Static Tensions: Saw them opening for Mastodon the week before last, and they rocked my face off. A five-piece with two drummers and a woman guitarist/singer in a Burning Witch t-shirt. I've been meaning to check them out for a while now, and that show sealed the deal.
-Isis Wavering Radiant: I think these guys continue to do something pretty special and powerful. The layers of sound and thought evidenced on this new one are just consuming me, it's been a near-daily listen since it dropped on May 5. Trying to figure out if I can swing going to see them next month when they come to the area, because I know I will be blown away.

Flight 666

Saw this on palladia(?) cable channel over the weekend & just released on DVD. AMAZING!
Unreal....Dickinson flies Ed Force 1 all over the world and Maiden rocks everywhere. One of if not the best documentary on a rock tour I have ever seen.
Those South American crowds are sketchy but damn do they know how to have a good time at a show!

Bought it and watched twice already. This completely affirms that Maiden stand alone among all bands, not just metal bands.

The Central/South American footage is indeed intense. The shot of the guy crying his eyes out, I think in Columbia, is particularly notable.

Totally agree. Always liked them and knew that it took serious talent to pull off their sound, but never saw them live, and truly had no clue how good they actually really are. Kicking myself for not going to see them last year. I have been Maidenized. 😀

I made my wife watch parts of it. She cried when that dude cried. Powerful moment....

I wont make any more Iron Maiden comments 🙄

damn, my copy isn't here yet! I shouldn't have bundled it with the new DT 😡

My son got me Flight 666 for Father's day..................Oh My..........I wouldn't have believed how well this was done, had I not seen it myself. I've listened to Maiden since the Maiden Japan EP.
I took Jr to a Maiden concert which was a highlight of my child rearing career. Rush was his first show, for his 17th B-day............near tears when Rush came on, near tears now
He's gonna be 21 next Sunday.............Goddamn how the time flies.............
