Six Mile Time Trial Throwdown - Beat My Time

6-Mile is almost 100% about cornering. There's virtually no fitness aspect to this TT at all.

this is why I aint bothering with this challenge - I completely SUCK in the twisties. ridiculously bad at manuevering through that place. my time would be very very bad.

now a good time trail route through Hartshorne or Allaire....

I know my time isn't Garmin approved but I took my shot at Six Mile tonight. I agree with Kush and J, it's faster than it has been in years past.

Also, thanks to the crews working out there. The trails are some of the best maintained around.

No problem, I'll accept this.

Tyler! Good gain on previous time.

Damn, I'm still slow. 6 mile is all about cornering which I have no skills for. Found it hard to get my HR up. Improved a bit from last year, but Mandi is still kicking my ass :hmmm:

I don't own a garmin, but I am very familiar with the traditional TT loop and my stop watch put me at 1:18:36 total time today.

-Jim.

Still having something left in the tank to lay down the hammer in the farm field sections is where the fitness can come into play.

is it quicker to maintain a smooth speed through twistys and lay off brakes

vs

hammer out of each turn and slam on brakes into each corner?

i know fitness wise i can't do the latter for very long so i tend to do the former....

what do you fast kids do?

Martin, less brakes = less wasted energy. So that is more efficient. The less energy you waste in the turns, the more you have to burn in spots that allow you to open it up.

I try to carry as much speed through the turns as possible and judging by my time I do a decent job. But still lots of room for improvement.

I was looking for a 1:10 after your last month + of 100 mile days.

There's a big difference between 12 hour days at 10mph and a 1 hour sprint, but don't you worry, I had so much gas left in the tank after today's ride that I could have been running laps all day. Slowly but surely, I'm turning long and slow into short and fast. Just wait till cross season!

there is an inappropriate sexual joke to be made in there somewhere i'm sure of it

on topic = so jshort conserves his batteries for the open sections which makes sense... i guess the question becomes does tony have bigger batteries in the straights or is he increasing his gap in the turns? :hmmm:

i want F1 style analysis of these laps =] if i find some damn time in my life to do it i might

i'll bite

Tony is doing both but probably makes up the most time in the turns. It's called flow.

I don't think anyone would mind if I make an exception for Adam.

Rather, I'll make a new rule. Anyone who has ridden 4200 miles across the USA in last month or so can post up their time in whatever format they want 😎

Anyone who disputes this is completely unreasonable....
