Six Mile Time Trial Throwdown - Beat My Time

does anyone have an answer about the mileage differences? garmin setting I assume?

I would love to fix this.

I uploaded Jshorts file and mine into Google earth and we rode the exact loop.

Somehow mine read like 3 miles less.

same with my edge 500. you can switch your gps to 1 sec recording interval and get more realistic mileage but for long road rides i recommend to switch back because you might have a problem with uploading longer road rides in garmin connect with this interval.

my mileage has always been on the low side too at 6 mile with my 500. I know you lose some mileage in the twisties with the greater than 1 second point collection and I guess that makes a huge difference since like 80% of 6 mile is 90* turns

The real answer here is to get a speed sensor. Maybe I will throw one on my new geared bike.

Just out of curiosity, I pulled out the stats per device used in Top 20.

500 does seem to be an outlier, while 605, 705, 305, 800 are fairly close to one another.

Device # Average of dist
305 1 14.60
500 6 13.53
605 2 14.86
705 6 14.79
800 1 14.28
? 4 15.04
Total 20 14.43

:hmmm: interesting

I know a handful of you guys have multiple gps units... maybe next time you ride you could use both and have a more accurate picture of the data fluctuations since the loop will be exactly the same...

Anonymous request:

Tony needs to redo his time.

Even though Kush just one-upped his effort and this arguement was brought up before, I feel like the new trail layout this year is actually slower.

DISCUSS!
:getsome:

I agree. The park is ever changing thanks to the efforts of the hard working six mile minions.
