Six Mile Time Trial Throwdown - Beat My Time

I thought we needed a new thread at the beginning of the season too, but nobody agreed. So now we need to beat Tony's time from last year.
I am curious if he has been able to match or better that time since though. Every time I put down a TT loop, I'm amazed at how fast his time is.

He posted his time on FB the other day. No, not even close. He wouldn't be the 2011 champ, at least with that time.

I think it's time to go back for run #2. I gotta think I was handicapped a bit, being muddy, leafy and my first time there. On a good day I think I can knock a minute thirty off. I don't think I'll ever se tony's time.

I chatted with J about the shape the park is in now, compared to before.

J said the park is blazing fast now compared to years gone by just based on how worn in the trails are. And he's fixing the couple of puddle spots on Blue, which should make it even faster.

I also feel the park is faster with the good work J and crew did, with a couple of reroutes and new bridges. At least it feels faster to me.

If you catch it when it's just a bit tacky, you'll set personal bests for sure.

I think Tony's time is a great carrot. That is a real accomplishment. I've ridden with Tony, and he is amazing when he's on form. I'm not handing out case of good beer for anything less.

If anyone wants, they can take and start a new thread. I like this one 🙂

The SMUTT (six mile united time trialists) committee has spoken. Now get out and ride and quit your bitching! (you didn't think I'd be able to resist using some derivative of 'bitch' in this, did you??)

I'm tempted to buy Maurice a case of beer just to *try*.

So thats a guaranteed case, plus the possibility of another case? Nice.

And I am with Ilya. Although I don't agree the trails are faster, I want to beat Tonys time.

This is fun BTW.

It's definitely riding fast. the only reason i would say it would be slower or longer now is due to the reroute on blue where the field was replaced with the flowy section before the long boardwalk. Not sure how much a difference in time / mileage that really makes though...

i'm garmin-free, or maybe i should say garminless, and i don't think i would place in the field anyway, but i wouldn't try today or at least until it rains, for a personal best. it could be faster; we definitely need a shower to tack the place up. this morning i found myself "thinking" sometimes, mainly about getting my front tire to hook up on the dust that is the trail. the rest of the time i was thinking about gravy. mmm... gravy!

it is definitely slower because many straight sections were re-routed. I recall at least 4. Lets say it is extra 1-2 min. Regarding condition, I saw the trails in better shape in the last Summer.

Said that lets keep the current thread/results.

I've ridden here with a 305, 500, 705, and now I have an 800 but I don't think it's been here. Maybe sunday. The 500 definitely reads way low even with a gsc10 sensor.

I gotta get back now that I'm not slowed down by small wheels and suspension

6 mile is all about cornering which I have no skills for. Found it hard to get my HR up.

6-Mile is almost 100% about cornering. There's virtually no fitness aspect to this TT at all. It really levels the playing field a ton...

what I lack in cornering I need to make up for in fitness. 😀

So When i'm locking up my brakes in turns cause I dont have the crazy skills, I need to hammer out of the turn to get up to speed. That starts to hurt after a while. :drooling:
Where If I had them skills, I could carry more speed through, accelerate less, and conserve a little energy for opening it up when possible.

I can see that. No matter how hard I try I just can't get up to race pace at that place. I feel like I'm coasting for 90% of the loop. Maybe that's why I can't beat anyone's time:hmmm:

This gives us not so strong riders a chance to LOOK fast 😉

Need to redo this again...
