saw the roadie pricks today

I'm kind of confused as what your view is here David.... first these guys are "scumbags" and "NFG". But they were going the other direction so it didn't "bother you". 😵

I openly admit I'm a prick regardless of what vehicle I'm on or in. Crap, I don't even need to be with a vehicle.
True that! I can piss anybody off any time.

Now I'm older... suppose to be wiser..have become more picky when I do.. baby steps..

Confirmed Major Taylor Ride, which is the same one last year that ruffled @THATmanMANNY's feathers.
At least 50% of these cyclist (probably more) are inexperienced riders in all respects, so give them a break. If you want to make a change then contact the organizers and give them a solution.
I was thinking about this more knowing something about the murky rules of roadway jurisdiction. I checked my resources and 514 is a road that is under county jurisdiction (note that all county roads are not county jurisdiction) , anyways, the organizers may avoid a headache by getting the county's blessing (Somerset, Middlesex and Hunterdon) for that entire section of 54 between New brunsiwck and 202 instead of using say, Wertzville, which you would have to get the municipalities blessing on top of the county's blessing for 514, which may be more of a pain in the ass.

so i live on a county road - and there is no sidewalk, but plenty of walkers/joggers/dog poopers/bikes/cars - the corners (neighboring parcel, and 1 lot away) have sidewalks, that could be connected.
how would i get that project on the radar? there have been 3 accidents in the last two years, and plenty of skidding cars.....just seems like a good fit.

Once I was on the phone with customer service at Verizon and the lady on the phone was really mean. Customer service pricks, they're all the same...

I had an amazing customer service experience with Verizon Sunday. I mean, none of my issues were resolved and it looks like I'm going to have to buy a $300 piece of electronics from Amazon but the service rep was from Tennessee and we both spent most of the time cackling with laughter at the ridiculousness of the situation.

Make a case to either your municipality or the county at the board meeting. Even though the road might be county, they may have an agreement with the municipality to maintain/improve the road. If you can show that the accidents were a result of sidewalk users having to enter the roadway, it may fly.

TY!

@Flaubert my view is they were scumbags that didn't affect my travel schedule. I took note of them as I was driving. No different than the asshats that cruise at 50mph in the fast lane. No excuse to be more than 1 wide except for passing or racing(on closed or controlled roads).

Just gave him the finger - I could see his enraged face in his rearview mirror.

I don't like flipping off drivers, I prefer an over the top wave after being honked at. If I'm in the middle of the road it's for a reason so they can deal with that.

If we wanted to get pretty technical couldn't we say driving is a privilege revocable by law where cycling has no true regulation? So the roads are ours? So "share the road" is really a statement to cyclists which angers drivers.

An angry enough driver can make the choice to kill you, so in the end just don't ride you bike anywhere and stay home and drink and watch football like a good american.

I gave the finger for the first time in quite a while to a dump truck driver that blew his horn just to scare me as i was well into an 8' shoulder.

I stopped giving the finger once I realized it is just too easy for people in cars to run you over, especially some idiot kids. If you do engage in such action, you best be ready to crack some skulls with your spandex clad 6" biceps or have a good escape plan where they can't chase you down.

Has anyone ever stopped and let the cars pass by?
Sort of thinking maybe this is a safer option than dealing with road raged maniacs behind the wheel.

I have almost driven this gif into the ground, almost.
On a serious note, we live in the most densely, stopping for every car just isn't feasible, not should it even have to be considered. If someone is being really obnoxious it warrants moving further into the lane. I have stopped before but only when i was in an unfamiliar area and found myself on a road that was completely unsuitable for bikes. I have stopped a few times when snow was on the road to let a car go by so it didn't kill me. In any case, it is a rare occasion where stopping even needs to be considered.
