WTF you got coffee? They made me pound salt!

I really don't love locking or deleting threads. Even if this were someone calling out Halters, I would leave it. Jay would jump all over it, as would 58 other people defending the shop, myself included.

I sent the link to the owner, so he knows it's here. I have no idea if he's keeping up with it but he gave no indication in his reply to me that he was going to reply here, reach out to Adam, or that he wanted to me to take it down.

They get their coffee from Small World Coffee in Princeton. It's damn good coffee I must say.

I ride with, hang out with and throw back beers with all the guys, including the owner from this shop pretty frequently. They are a solid bunch of dudes on a personal level as well as professional.

I am sure that this was a rare and isolated incident. I know from the many hours I have spent in this shop that this kind of treatment towards the public is not standard. Iv'e seen these guys bend over backwards in order to take care of their many returning customers. While it does sound like a shitty experience, I wouldn't write them off completely because of this and thats all i'm going to say.

If owned the shop, I would regret not pounding the op's face into the chain link fence and warning him not to post negative reviews based on his egotistical ass coming into my place of business and expecting something for nothing. Hypothitically.

Then I would have told him about the internet, walmart, obama, home depot, to squirt lube up his ass. (can we say that here?)

You, my friend, are a poetic genius...

I'll also throw it out there that the guys at Pure Energy have generally been pretty great in their interactions with me and my team.

I think a lot of mechanics get surly. Some more so than others. And some days you get REALLY surly. Especially when it's the beginning of summer and the shop has been crazy for the past month and a half. It was probably one of those days. I've had experiences like that even at shops that I love.

Granted, when customer service is a huge part of your business this isn't particularly easy to forgive. But there it is.

I can't really comment on their repairs or the quality of any of their products beyond their coffee and snacks. But I will say that the coffee and snacks are great, and in general it makes for a nice place to stop into while on the way through Lambertville.

Off topic but I feel for these bike mechanics.

What's the typical amount a bike mechanic makes per hour and what's the etiquette for tipping?

$10.00 is about what I usually do, depending. John cracks me up, some guys protest ("no, I couldn't possibly thank you so much") but he is quick and smooth into the coveralls.😀
I try to be somewhat subtle if other mechanics are around. And I generally try to do it beforehand.

I did not know that tipping was done. Now I feel bad... going to have to take care of some people soon.

Start with baked goods. Homebaked by you a very close family member. If you go in with cash at this point you will look foolish.

I look foolish every time I go in there. I think they used to it by now.

Just go in there with a 20 spot, and say every time I come in, Ive meant to give you's (love that word) a little extra coin... Trust me a 20 spot will buy lunch for the crew, and you'll be looked at in a different light.... Tipping has its bennys.. Whenever I have an issue the mechs will literally stop what there doing, like actually take the bike their working on off the stand and tend to mine.. Gotta love that!
