My Rant & Rave

What trail is serpentine? I ride allaire all the time but am not familiar with all the trail names

It's part of the Blue Trail. I think "Serpintine" actually starts/ends at that green USGS shack off the orange trail

Rider uphill ALWAYS has right of way. "Upgrade" I would think the same rule applies.

FWIW, Just because you have the right of way doesn't mean you can ride blindly up a hill. If someone is coming at you at 20MPH and runs into you and dislocates your hip and gives you a concussion so bad that you cant work, goto the bathroom by yourself or ride your bike anymore and it requires you to miss time from work because you cant drive at all and makes you sit inside all day and eat cheetos dipped in melted cheese and get fat to the point where your spouse leaves you and takes your house and all the valuables in it because you are a vegetable and need your parents to take care of you and wipe the drool from your face without having a seizure that takes over your whole body and knocks over the IV that is plugged into your arm in order to feed your vital organs the drugs it needs in order for it to operate enough to keep your brain stimulated, it won't really matter if you had the right of way.

LOL. So true

We still missed how Caper, got a flat, from one of Allaire's smooth rocks 😕

on one of the three rocks on the tiger wood trail. the rocks actually have pointy edges. I used to run these Schwalbe Racing Ralphs. The sidewalls on those things were thin as shit. Slashed a hole in em. Ironically I rode Chimney rock the day before.

So I'm on the Serpentine Trail the other other night, And I'm going up it/down it, depending which direction you're coming from. I was coming from the green USGS hut. So I guess I was going upgrade. So this dude comes flying down the trail, and we collide. No biggie as fars as I'm concerned. No damage to body or gear. But then he kinda had this condecending tone, "I don't how expierenced you are, yadda, yadda, yadda". Then he says you should be only going down grade on this trail. I said "really?" Now I'm always the courteous, respectful guy. I wanted to remind this isn't his personal trail and that there are kids, women and weekend warriors out here and he should be a little more cautious Any thoughts?

Total "jerk store" moment. That guy is totally wrong. There is no established one-way direction either official or even implied. And that trail is NOT one where one should clearly be given right-of-way as its not really a hill. Simple common sense and courtesy apply. That guy lacked both.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. No biggie. It didn't really hit me, so to speak until I thought about his condecending comment.

SO, I have not been on the board in a while and just came upon this. I would like to put my 2 cents into this for the OP because the OTHER rider was myself!!!!
Everybody here knows how well this trail flows and everyone here knows that you just flow down this trail with ease. So here I am at the last blind turn before the trail opes to the end and I come around that blind turn and 5 feet ahead is another rider(OP), We both hit the brakes and pray for the best. We semi collide and both our bikes hug it out and the OP goes down to my left. I instantly help him upright, still both on our bike, and apologize profusely and ask if he is OK. He says he is fine and we then have a few minutes of chit chat and such. During this chit chat we talked about this trail and how it flows in this direction and that it's not a one way trail but should be because of the blind turns and speed pick up. I did ask him how often he rides here because I was trying to help him and I did explain to him that when ever I go in his direction I always ring my bell and yell rider coming for my own safety. I made it clear that its not a rule, you can ride in either direction, but from experience its safe to make your presence known around turns. I WAS IN NO WAY CONDESCENDING at all.!!! We collided, made sure each of us was fine, talked for a few minutes and then went on our way.
Rev, I'm sorry if you felt I was being condescending to you but I was not. I was only offering you a safety tip and nothing more. The only reason I asked about your experience was to offer some help that's all. Sorry again and hope to "see" you on the trails. 🙂

Had a few thoughts to respond to this but erased them all for better judgement. What happened here happens all the time around blind turns on ANY trail. No fault by either party. Common sense should also apply to harsh post. Carry on, no hard feelings.

So what have we learned from this?
Serpentine is a downhill
CX is the devil
Matty fibbed
Mitch is a condescending douche 😉
it's all Starvas fault

Seriously though.....shit happens sometimes. Rev., Mitch is an awesome guy and sometimes his Brooklyn comes out wrong 😉. I think we could probably ride a Kayak down that trail now. 🙁
