for me, i really don't think there is any need for XTR other than the bling factor.

so...i'd have to upgrade the shifters too? huh, that's not something i want to do right now. i really haven't many issues at all with the shimano stuff so i think i'll sit tight with my $80 der and skip the added shifter upgrades. not to mention the fact that i may be selling the fuel in a few months...
 
I'm a definitie Sram fan. My stumpy has them and I much prefer them over shimano. There's a reassuring clunk when you select a gear, I've not needed to tune my front or rear derailleur since i got the bike last year, and you thumb shift so you can downshift coming up to a turn...

+1 for Sram.
 
Jake- If you get the X-9 make sure you buy the 2007 version. They made some improvements to the design, it should be more durable than the older ones.
 
Just to defend the Shimano stuff a bit, I've had zero issues with the XTR that came with the bike. I bent the thing at the 50k, Tony bent it back. It's been really reliable since I got the bike.
 
Another Sram convert. About 3 years ago I put X9 stuff on my Klein hard tail, and I havent looked back. The F29 has the X7 stuff, which I think is probably just as good as the X9 stuff I had a few years back. Solid shifting and i finger shifts, me likey.
 
I was very skeptical of sram for a bit myself. I wasnt really diggin the shifters was really the problem. But after Pedros, where i was on the x-7's for a about a good 12 hours of riding, I was a believer. The shifting is super crisp and accurate. They will shake, rattle and roll and you dont have to worry about making any adjustments.

well, i'll be heading back to KVSP bright and early tomorrow am to run ms mary through a quick workout. hint, hint shaggz...
 
i am supposed to be getting together with jason, to (hopefully) ride, and then work on the web site. what time tomorrow?
 
right...and...that has what to do with tomorrow morning? it's a business meeting damnit. 😀

i can't go tonight b/c our washing machine blew up on friday and we just got the authorization to buy a new one this afternoon. the wife demands a new one is purchased...tonight.

early this am walt and I rode around KVSP for a hour or so. we had a blast despite walt almost puking and ms. mary's bottom bracket or cranks acting up. I guess the fun factor is why norm didn't show 😀

Yes indeed, good times. Thanks for the tour Jake, alot better than the tour Shaggz gave me, oh wait, thats right, he drove away from me. It wouldnt be a ride without some good dry heaves. KVSP is a great park, look forward to coming back.

Today was like opposite day, alot of you northern folk came south and some of us went north, interesting. Have fun at the party, make sure to bring the kevlar.

hey walt, i didn't ride today. i drank margaritas inseadt. btw, my rear wheel was loose...it wan't anything to do with a BB.
