Speaking of which, we talked about this like a year ago. We need to do the Blue Mountain ride then hit that liquor store that's super-high rated up in that area. Now that's a group ride!

YES! I would love to go to Blue again. I had such a blast the last time I was there. It is my favorite place to ride so far.

I still have not made it to half-time liquors either.

How about the 22nd or 23rd of Sept?

I also give thanks to you guys for putting all your triumphs and misfortunes out there for all of us to read. Its alot of fun and at times, very interesting.

Jake, today I was at an MMA school watching some kid who is training for a fight in Atlantic City on Saturday, and as he is pounding away at a punching bag, the trainer yells to him, " Come on, this is the hard part, all of this is what makes the cage easy!" Right away I thought of you. The training is all the hard stuff you gotta go through to be able to do what you like, and be good at it, to make it enjoyable. I think if this dude put a lackluster effort in as he trained, I am sure he wouldnt enjoy getting his ass handed to him in the cage.

As far as the group rides, I spoke to ChrisG about this at Allaire last week or so. The summer not only brings race season, but family stuff like parties, bbqs, picnics, etc. People have alot of stuff going on in the summer and it can be rough to get alot of people together at the same time. I think once the race season is over and the weather breaks, the group ride thing will flourish.

Yeah the majority of these rides are mid-week. Not a single one of these is your standard PhatBiker-like group ride. You know what I mean. Stop being obtuse 😀

Right now I'm in the race season. I will try to lead some group rides after the last race of the year. Nobody will show, except you, Woody, and maybe Jake.

I have never been called obtuse before. I have been called "acute" before though. 😛

See, racing once again getting in the way of fun. 😛

At least we're not dressing up as dragons and fucking our steerer tubes.

Cannondale's are great bc of their oversized tubing.

I guess im a few hours to late...it was going to say the same damn thing. I had this exact conversation with the exact same person. teehee

the long awaited update

dear loyal readers:
as you may have noticed, i have not been updating my blog nearly as much as i would like. but fear not, i am still riding! i know this thrills you all. i have been trying to keep up with a CTS type "training" plan that basically tells me to go balls to the wall for an hour or so three days a week and then do a 'group ride' type deal one day on the weekend. so far it's been pretty good but my travel schedule the next three weeks is hell so i'm fairly sure this whole thing is shot.

at any rate, some updates on my rides:
1. i've realized that i got VERY lazy on the road from...um...may though august? no wonder i was dragging. not riding hard goes against everything i stand for. go big or go home, right? i completely violated that rule and my rides really suffered. i could probably go back through this mess and find the posts where people were telling me to 'just go ride...have fun...don't use your computer'. nonsense. i did that for three months and my times dropped off the map. on my first CTS type ride i SHATTERED my average time over my 21 mile loop by 6:30. the second ride i beat that time by another two minutes. for those of you counting at home, that's an 8:30 improvement over two rides? gee, who was being lazy i wonder? f'ing ponderous is more like it. i didn't know if i'd ever get over an 18 mph average speed on the 1995 TREK w/ road slicks and here i carried an 18.3. makes me wonder what a 180 lb bonefish would do on a sub 20 lb road bike. so here's that data:

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/4042483

one other thing to note is that my virtual training partner is a complete bad load. the guy just will not show up to ride. i think he's at a bar. waiting for the AL East champion red sox to start playing. but, if anyone knows how i can find him on my garmin 305 please let me know. i do have it "turned on" in the settings, just as an FYI.

actually, that's really the only important data that i have. in keeping pace with other "normy come-lately" bloggers, my FGI, or fat guy index for the misinformed or just plain to lazy to check the other blog, hit a low of 195.5. i have not been that light since i worked at deutsch (advertising) in NYC and my uber-gay friend henry used to go shopping for me at bananna republic. yes, i had a gay shopper. yes, i actually fit into some BR clothing. yes, i know the number of jokes in those two sentences alone with add pages to this. 😀 as a point of reference, after drinking a 1/2 gallon of water, and eating 34 totinos pizza rolls over the weekend, the FGI shot north again to 199. oh well. who would've thunk that 34 pizza rolls and 1/2 of a magic hat fall sampler could do that!?

anyway, there's the update. carry on.

Preaching to the choir my friend. Good to see you're still rolling.

You can bring your virtual partner out of the closet when you've set a regulat loop as a course. Next time you ride you select the course and "do course". Then cycle through to the screen with all of the speed, time, Hr and all that crap on it and click the "enter" button. The bottom section of the screen should scroll through various views of you and your partner such as; overhead, distance between the two of you, elevation view and such. Give it a try...

i hit damn near every button on the thing but got nothing. the only options i found were in the settings to get the top two fields to be three...or four. or whatever. i'll try that though, thanks dan.

my quick scan through processed the following words: shattered, 18 mph, uber-gay and drinking. by that, i'm going to assume that the post was describing your high speed break up with your drunk gay loverboy, and that the link that was in there led to porn. gay porn. is that really appropriate for this family friendly forum jake? 🙄

Hey, I wear Banana Republic clothes!

You kept up pretty well at Deer Park. You were breathing a little heavy, but you were always there - that's good.
