I picked up my electric guitar the other day..... Okay dug it out of the closet; it’s been in there for years.

Went in the garage, fired up the Marshall, dialed in the appropriate amount of Clapton "Crunch", started riffing out "Cross Roads" at a non neighbor friendly volume😀 God it’s been awhile = I stunk

Don't feel bad...I stink playing Crossroads whether I play everyday or go months/years w/o picking a guitar up. And every time I think I'm playing it okay, I listen to Clapton play it and it reminds me I suck.

I've been playing for over 3/4 of my life. In that time I've had periods where I've played a lot and (thought) I played well; other times, I barely played and sucked quite badly (like now). Always had fun, though. In the end, that is what matters...there are few things as awesome as losing yourself in a wall of distorted sound with your favorite ax...

Head Bangers!

A young punk was raving to moi on Iron Maiden the other day...can somebody suggest ONE definitive Maiden album that will knock my f'n socks off???
The Number of the Beast is the "bridge" between the "young" Maiden and what they were to grow into. It captures the raw ferocity of the first two albums and begins opening up the epic/more progressive material they would really develop in the next four studio releases. It's the only album with Bruce Dickinson on vocals and Clive Burr on drums, so it's kind of unique, to my ears.

But starting with the s/t first album and going chronologically works really well too, that's for sure.

There's material on their latest that's as ferocious as anything they've ever done, IMO.

Zoller: I'll be there next Friday, but I'll be back in the cheap seats.😀

I'm going to say Wilco's Blue Sky Blue is simply awesome. It puts them as one of the best active bands, IMO. I'd be hard pressed to name a band as good as Wilco right now.

I've been a Dream Theater fan since day one, I can't even imagine the number of hours over the last 20 years I've spent trying to learn the few songs I do know how to play!! I saw them twice in 2006 during Gigantour, first at PNC, then at the House of Blues the next day. The drummer in my band at the time worked the board at HOB and got me backstage to meet the band, it was AMAZING😀

I've also been a big Satriani fan and always like seeing him. The last time I caught him at Starland with Eric Johnson touring for the Super Colossal album.
Anytime anyone wants to go to a show or jam out, I'm game!!

Fishbone.

Aw man I may have to break out that today. I saw Fishbone open for Primus back at the College Ave gym. Good stuff. That band really went through some crazy stuff, at one point kidnapping their guitar player I believe?

ska

can't forget madness & mighty mighty bosstones. i always wanted the job as the dancing bosstone.
what about local bands? i remember seeing a bunch of great bands at the court tavern & the melody bar (rip) in new brunswick in the late 80's & 90's
