Lake Williams

Address for gps directions?

Search your GPS for Rosendale NY, Binnewater Rd intersection with Main st. When you reach Binnewater road just follow it for 1.5 mile and go right to Williams lake hotel. Can't miss it, there are sign for private property and they will most likely have signs for the race.

Live from Williams lake:

Great showing from MTBNJ team and forum members. Kirt, Robson, panhead, racerchick, MattyB, Dr. Rob, liong, Patty, rob (rng), myself, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch. We are all hanging out waiting for scores, they are taking their sweet time to post them up.

How did everybody do? I got up early and felt very dizzy, tried to shake it off but ended up throwing up and going back to bed. Sorry to miss out

Experts just went off. Still waiting for scores to get posted, ill post up what I can when they are posted.

We finally got some scores in. Congrats to Kirt and Patty for their 1st place finishes! I'm going to try to post some pics of the score sheets.

I can't upload pictures from my Droid so here are the scores I have:

Patty - 1st - 1:31:02 - cat3 women
MattyB - ? - 1:53 - cat2 SS
Dr. Rob - 5th - 1:40:52 - cat2 SS
Kirt - 1st - 1:26:30 - cat2 40-49
Rob (rng) - 7th - 1:45:22 - cat2 40-49
Myself - 1st - 1:10:30 - cat3 19-29 😀

Gave out some dinky little metals. This was a fun race on a great and unique course. The cave and multiple pockets of freezing air were insane. Will definitely do it next year if they have it. Scoring had a few issues, they looked really flustered but seemed to be getting everything under control as we were leaving.

Oh ya and congrats to Kirt, Patty (well in an xc race atleast 🙂) and Chris for all of their first 1st place finishes ever.

I'm pissed I missed the action, I heard the organizers do an awesome job with the courses up there. Are you guys and gals gonna do the rest of the series?

The course was awesome with no shortage of hills. MTBNJers kick some serious butt. I had no pre ride or warm up and blew up fantastically on first lap. Strolled the second lap and helped Panhead out with a flat. Pushed through the last lap to end up with 8th I think cuz they really failed on the results posting. Fail also was no prizes for Patty after beating all cat3 women, she killed it today.

Finally made it home. It was a fun race and a good time hanging out with everyone afterwards. Thanks to the promotors for throwing a great event. The course was well laid out and a ton of fun. Waiting for the scoring for 4 hours was a bit frustrating, but they were working hard to get it all figured out and I give them credit for patiently putting up with everyone as we pleaded with them for the results. I took pictures of many of the score sheets they posted up, i'll try to post them later tonight.

I finished 3rd (CAT3 40-49) and Dave (mtbrider) finished 6th. Not bad considering his big crash at the top of first climb. When I saw him on the ground I though his done with this race...Great job Dave!

Rob - thanks again for waiting until I was back on my feet after the monster crash - congrats on getting on the podium again! (despite waiting to make sure I was alive)

Here's the play by play:
I had a good start on the opening sprint and was in 4th place on the flats going into the big climb - feeling good I pushed it a bit, passed the 3rd place then the 2nd and then at the top passed the NYC MTB guy in 1st to take the lead.

I felt strong and was flying down one of the downhills when my right pedal/crank got frozen stuck on a stump or rock resulting in my bike torquing and throwing me sideways through the air. I landed hard with my breath knocked out of me. 😱

Most of the riders were kind enough to stop - some even wanted to call the promoter to send a medical crew to take me out of the woods. Once I was able to recollect my thoughts and breathe, Rob gave me a helping hand.

I fixed my chain (it had popped off) and started at it in an effort to catch the pack - passed about 15 riders but really had no clue at that point who was in my class or not. All I knew is I was not DNFing damn it!

Overall - a great course - tough climbs (damn it feels good when you make it) . It's unfortunate that it's private land because i'd love to go back there again. Anyone who thinks this place is too far - suggest you put it on next year's race schedule.

MR

Yeah this could be the end of an era apparantly as they announced that the entire property has been sold....

Very tough course today. I haven't been feeling good for the last two weeks and today I was still weak. I was forced to DNF, need to get better and regroup. Was great to see my two friends Patty Pedals (sorry I missed your call and Sandie Cyclopath make the trip. Great job Patty for kickin ass in your class! The heat was tough which made the course even more difficult. Amazing that the top Pro rider Seamus Powel's lap times were in the 21 minute range! I was cheering for Ryan H out there, he had looked strong as always taking 2nd in his Cat 1 class. Got to see a few Team MTBNJer's ... Kirt and Rob rippin too, nice to sit and chat, lakeside with Heidi "pokgirl", She had an awesome race taking 2nd in my class. The best part was swimming in the gorgeous Williams Lake and hanging out with Tommy and Jordan. I will most likely miss Lewis Morris and take a week off.

RC ... 🙁

This I didn't hear, I'll talk to a few people and post up. What I do know is Christian Favata and Ed Burgess might be putting on a Cyclocross race at Williams lake in the fall :getsome: As for not being able to ride there, I also learned today that there's talk of being able to ride a few times during the week ... more to follow. Christian (the promotor) is not at fault for the scoring screw ups. The scoring is in the hands of the US Cycling official :hmmm:
