Lake Williams

RC what would you say elevation per lap is? This helps with my absurd thinking about racing...

Matty I would think in the area of 550'-600' per lap. There really weren't any sustained climbs, just a lot of short ups. Last years course was a lot of fun even though it was a total mud fest. You and Patty should do this race, how often to you get to ride through caves! Christian Favata is the local pro and is the host of the race, I heard he has a few tricks up his sleeve

RC ... :getsome:

Yes, this race is always a bag of tricks and a must do!! Unfortunately, I have a wedding to go to that day. As if??

Lastest on Williams Lake ...

My sources tell me that the course will be run backwards for this race. Also there might be a pre-ride this weekend. Tomorrow I'm taking a ride over to see Christian @ Favata's Table Rock Tours to get the 411. I'll post up if the pre-ride is open to all as well as course details.

RC ... 🙂

Williams Lake ...

Got the skinny ...

The Williams Lake course will be 4.9 miles long and run backwards from last year. I've been told since a few racers complained after the race last year that it was too hard (it's mountain biking, give me a break!) Christian has made a few changes on the course for next Sunday's race. There will be less climbing and said to be faster and not as technical. Christian's lap times were in the 30 minute range per lap (he's a National Pro). Tomorrow there is an "invite only" pre-ride. I will post up with more details and Garmin data from the ride. Next Saturday there will be an open to the public pre-ride/event hosted by Favata's Table Rock Tours.

RC ...

The Cave ...

I have been getting over a cold the last few days so I didn't do the pre ride today. A few friends did, they said it was greasy b/c of the rain we have had. The weather for the week here in the Hudson Valley looks good.
The course will be run in the oppisite direction from last year. There was quite a bit of climbing. One of the expert SS riders said he was going to run 32/19 on his scoot for Sunday's race, not the 32/16 he had today. There's talk about another mid-week pre ride and that one I will do. Here's a picture of racers exiting the "cave" at Williams Lake.

RC ... 🙂

I am leaning towards heading up there. Anyone want to share the drive from Northern NJ let me know. I will likely not be hanging much afterwards to get back for father's day family stuff.

That pic looks like a giant mushroom

Cat3 goes at 9:30 then also says cat2 goes at same time is this typo. Pedals wants to race it also which now leaves my kids with no one to watch over them. Damn it!

Crap I didn't notice that, if that means cat 2 will go at 10:30 that may be an issue for me. Can anyone confirm this?

Pre reg closes at noon today, get clicking folks! Good gang of people up north, you'll be missing a good race/ series!
