Kingdom Trails trail closures

While true, would you rather hang with the same friends with better trails, or trails that are no longer there. Rhetorical question but you get my point.

Yeah, but there's still a ton of trails up there. And yeah, Moose Haven. We've never even made it to Victory Hill. I'm always down for trips to other places, but I think KT is still gonna be pretty tough to beat.

Victory Hill was closed this past year, which I think was the precursor to what this thread is about. I suppose that was foreshadowing that we all missed.

Oh. Guess we might as well all go to Utah next year then.

I've been to Utah's house. Steep climb, little payback.

Roanoke has come up, and other places. KT was a bit special in that it had a small VT town w/ the chill vibe. Other places may have better trails but not the ability to just hop on the bike, ride, eat lunch, ride, get ice cream, jump into river, get a beer and a burrito, ride home.

At least not easy driving distance. Man, this throws my plan to winter in Brevard and summer in East Burke out the window.

Thanks for all the replies. I cant believe they would do that after so many years. After reading the article, it does sound like they are trying to fix the problem by doing studies and building new welcome areas and parking lots. It may take a couple of years but it doesnt sound like they are giving up!

I have never been to a bike park but i plan to start going next season. I usually ride allamuchy, stephens, deer park, and kittatiny but its getting a little boring after many years. I plan to try mtn creek first, and then i wanted to check out vermont or NH. Then someday head out west.

My wife's parents have a house in Stratton, VT. Any parks near there u guys can recommend?
You're in luck: Stratton just built/opened a bike park this summer.

Stratton build some DH trails late this summer. They are few but fun from what I hear.

I'd target Highland in NH which isn't close to there, but well worth the drive.

Looks like the large property east of darling hill is for sale. Been on the market a while but may be one of the reasons for the drama. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2266-Darling-Hill-Rd-Lyndonville-VT-05851/2125743328_zpid/

If the house was a little bigger it could be a decent bed and breakfast spot. Let’s a pool our money together 😛
Imagine if you had bought this (or another house) in the area because of the KT proximity and had this happen. I've never ridden there, but it's been on my list.

Wow this looks promising. Lots more trails to come as well. https://www.stratton.com/the-mountain/mountain-improvements

Not sure how you guys feel about skills with Phil youtube guy, but i saw him do a video on Highland park and it blew my mind. Didnt even know stuff like that existed! Its #1 on my list after i get a little better for sure. This is why i was confused that a lot of you go all the way to KT. Must be really good

I believe this actual property is one of the landowners that pulled the plug, the land east of darling hill that has pines etc on it. Now if it was the land that had the three tees on it I would be currently getting financially creative figuring out how to buy it.

Highland is definitely a lot of fun. If you can swing it, try to avoid going there on a weekend. The lift line can be brutal, although they are working to add up-mountain capacity to the existing lift.

While it's possible, the property for sale isn't within one of the red closure zones on the map. When you enter the address on Google maps, it's across the street from the VT Children's Theater.

Texted my buddy who lives nearby burke:

"Rumor: a mtb rider told off some horse riders who were legally riding double track on their horses. The mtb people probably told them to get the fuck off the trails or some shit..

The horse riders are the land owners..."

Is The Bandit driving this rig off road in the KT trail system. This is so funny.

Sadly, I can imagine that happening. 🙁

Sleepy Hollow, Hinesburg Town Forest, Carse Hill, Richmond Trails... These trails keep developing every year. Plus 20 minutes from Burlington. 15 minutes to Catamount, Saxon and Mobbs Farm. If you want to throw in a road ride... Some of the best climbs in the NE right there.

I am a former Hinesburger.
