E-MTB conversion kits are out on the market now and they seem quite legit, not cheap Chinese kits you might find on Amazon or Aliexpress. Bimotal and CYC are two I saw so far.
My riding buddy just picked up a Yamaha Moro 5 for less than most entry level full suspension bikes. This is most likely the cause of the deep freeze because he is so desperate to ride🙄

The bafang BBS02 kit is really nice, i'd had mine since 2015 all original components. I raced it in the martys race and the only issue was a dropped chain, i'm heavy and the square tapers held up which is the weakest part about it.
I was going to get the cyc photon for my fatbike but it's prone to failure. It was nice because it's similar to the bbs02 but it has splined cranks. I wouldn't trust anything cyc to last a while after reading about them.
The bimotal is cool but that thing looks like it will chatter and break being so heavy on the triangle. It's really slick but the ability to put it on and take it off is a gimmick, the battery also needs to come off......now you are riding your analog bike with a bunch of wires and junk zip tied to it it.
