IGVENTURE

Well it would seem that karma has struck me down for calling sammy snowblower preparedness guy a douche.

As I was clearing off snow/ice from my plants in front of my house yesterday I saw a branch from an oak tree snap across the street and take out power to my house and 3 others.

I should have brought my xc skis into work, the snow seems good to go. Get out early on the skis before it turns back to slush.

My century ride is pushed back till tomorrow...oh well. I am going to seek snow to xc ski. Deal the hand your dealt, thats what I say. If a bus load of Haiwan Tropic swim suit models pulled up to my house looking for a lotion boy I'd be knee deep in boobies right now.

Signing off for now, will check back in when i regain power or I come back to work. If you need me text me.😀

I like this album. I got this lp when I was 13yrs old and knew it was special. I hope its still in my parents house.

I must admit I only listen to side one. When it came out on disc they put You Don't Love Me on Disc one, I still only listen to Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong and Stormy Monday. When I need to debug and reboot this is my goto disc.

I still get goosebumps when I hear this.

I don' understand how you don't listen to Hot 'lanta?? I used to do 1-song repeat on that alone.

I got to do a 25min version of that with the Fabulous Flemtones at Tierney's in Montclair at an open mic night back in like 1993. Actually it was 25min Whippin' Post with an outro into Hot 'lanta during the second solo. Love that lick on bass.

Center stage on the mic
I’m puttin' it on wax
It's the new style

Ted H checking in...bonus, now this blog has cred. For the record Ted instrumentals are only good background music while your smoking a doobie.

Yes I’m back and its good to be back. Shmev found some ones unsecure connection to use so I am writing this off of a jacked network. I don’t have power yet but am making the best of it with my generator. That things has been running since Saturday, I just shut it down and changed the oil in it which means its good for another crazy weather event.

Sunday

Since we all know the shit storm that occurred on Saturday there is no sense re-hashing it. I’ll just say it snow rained and I lost power when a tree branch came down. The next day I had to go to the golf course for work, Upper Freehold was not hit bad. When I was checking out the course I was amazed at the quality of snow, a firm 2-3”. This has potential for some good xc skiing. After fulfilling my official mgmt. duties I got the hell out of there and raced home to grab my xc skis.

By 10:00 I was at the local golf course near my house in Cranford with skis on feet. Holy chit man was I pleasantly surprised with the conditions. It is said that the Inuit have like 100 words to describe the different types of snow. As a xc skier I can understand this, there are multiple variables that effect the type of snow you get. Sunday morning’s condition’s was spring skiing at its best. When you can skate ski in October you do it and like it. I think the Inuit call Sunday’s snow boner-reffic.
You can see on the garmin where I hit pockets of really good stuff I hit multiple times for some skate ski action.

The good stuff.

Monday

With the power out it seemed like a good excuse to stay home from work, besides I have plenty of time to take yet. Since I didn’t do my scheduled century Sunday I figured I would do it today. After I fueled up the generator I headed west toward Hunterdon County for the Hill and Dale. After about an hour my legs were telling me they weren’t too happy after xc skiing yesterday for 2 hrs. That plus the numerous downed trees across the road made this century just about the saddle time and not about the speed.

This car can't get through but I can.

That's a great pic Igg. I'm breaking a rule of thirds here, but it's kind of meant to do that

This is Ravine Lake on Lake Rd. off of 202, its my special place. when you peddle through here stop at Cocoluxe on Main st. in Peapack, pay $3 for water and eat the free sample cookies. If they don't have any cookies out urinate on the floor...thats what i do.

I'll have to check out Ravine Lake. I usually don't ride north of the Far Hills train station, but that looks worthwhile.

If you haven't ridden up to Natirar Park, check that out.

The difference in moving time to elapsed??? Is that the accumulation of stop signs and stop light or was there a break in there???

You can get to Ravine Lake, but you need to take 202 to get back down, or go up-up-up after that. Bonus is that you will pass 2 Weird NJ things if you do the Ravine Lake and up-up-up loop.

I go past Natirar quite often. I'm always awed and inspired by the originality of the name.

You'd be surprised how many people don't figure out where the Natirar name came from.

Additional trivia: Raritan is Lenape Indian for "river without banks". Even the indians knew it flooded alot.

Maybe Passaic means "Norm needs a canoe"?
