IGVENTURE

Congratulations!!! (to her not to you 😀). My wife is going through a similar process. Still in the part of attending school though. I'll share this with her since sometimes is tough for her to find the time/motivation to keep going.

BTW, I don't know how well prepared you'll get to CP with such modest training plan. ONLY 3 centuries and a few long MTB rides? C'mon... And I was so happy with my plan to do 3-4 long MTB rides at 6M plus some trainer sessions. I hate you right now 😀

That's awesome about the job! I know the feeling. What subject is she teaching?

She is a special ed english teacher. Mary went special ed route because this is in great demand.

if i had you engine i'd sit on the couch, drink beer and eat cheesy poofs for the next 4 wks. then come to cp and still kick some booty.

Congrats to your lady!! My wife is also a teacher. We can lock our wives together and go for bike rides.

I wonder if I ever road w/ you. I grew up in Cranford, worked at CBS for a couple years and road w/ the team for a few as well. :hmmm:

I did not live in Cranford until 1997. I road with the CBS guys in 2001-2005 era. I do remember another Chris, slight build, good climber, strong roadie.
When I was with the team Manny was the man, still is...and there was Jimbo, Dave Justle, Big Tom, Andy, Lisa, Veronica, Mark, Walter...

I'll post up a pic of my handsome self later.

Congrats,on your wifeys new teaching job.

How about we do an mtbiking adventure ride
Next week.(see my century post) hitting
North jersey trails.i.e MDR,waway,JH,ringwood,ramapo
interested??

Mary appreciates the thanks.

Yes its true Case her perseverance did pay off. Teaching is something she was always interested in but it took a loss of a job and a now or never ultimatum to finally go for it.

I wish she got a principle job and made a ton of dough so I could retire. I need a sugar momma so I can just goof off all day. When I was in high school I loved girls with big jugs, now i love girls with big jugs and money...is that wrong?

No Bike Week

I haven't ridden my bike since Monday. I got a tattoo and joined the circus.

Ok only the first sentence is true. This break was needed more as like a closure kinda thing. I don't know what exactly I'm seeking closure from but I do know I go into Cathedral Pines training on Sunday. Tomorrow is TM at Hartshorne and then J has a state cup soccer game I have to hustle home for.

ok enough rambling, i've been drinking left over beer from the mtbnj picnic.

Groove on.

This is remixed from Jamie from XX. So that means its good.
This video reminds me of the animation from Pink Floyd the Wall, then I watched it recently and the Wall is just too dark and depressing.

Ahhh, sneaky, sneaky... 😉 So you killed it at CP last year eh? We were in the same category. I guess the reason I don't remember you because I was 20th and you were 2nd, so I never saw you 😀 Are you doing gears or SS this year? BTW, don't get left out, there are only 65 spots left and they going fast.

Since I can't hope for Taconic-like weather for the race (90F and 90% humidity), I hope we get snow or sleet or slush or ice or any combination of those. That should level-down the field a bit 😀

Event - Category - Participant Name Entry Fee
Something Wicked - Six Hours of Cathedral Pines
SS OPEN MALE - Chris Brawley - share on Facebook Twitter

yes 2nd last year with a flat on the 3rd lap...but that was cat 2.

I'm in for ss open, so I'm gonna hunt you down towards the end like lieutenant Dangle. No more mr nice guy.

It's on :getsome: 🙂 This is the race I've been waiting all year. I guess in part because I feel I need to redeem myself since last year I effectively abandoned the race 😱 (crossed the line in time to do one more lap but could not stay straight on the bike).

I have to agree, right now you passing my after say 4 hrs of racing is a very plausible scenario. Not because I'm faster than you but because I can't pace myself. This year at DH40 I lost 3 positions in the last 5 miles because I run out of steam. The scare picture of Lt. Dangle catching me will be extra motivation to push it, that's for sure 😀

I'm going with a big bold style, its my blog I'll take up as much room as I want dammit. The top and bottom pics were taken by me at work when we had that 80 degree weather the 1st wknd in October.

Saturday

In the morning I headed to Hartshorne for a TM session. The group met at the parking lot off of locust point and got shuttled over to avoid the over crowding at the buttermilk parking lot. In the pre-work shuffle I spied a dude with a camelbak on and figured it must be a mtber. I said what up... and he said hey. This is how I met rustynuts/Jordan.

These tm things in the park system can be a pissing contest if you want them to be. I don't want to argue with people who don't know what the F there talking about so I usually just avoid them and do Jorba style trail work, where the goal is to get water off of a trail as opposed to carry it down a trail. The knuckleheads leave me alone and I work well with guys like, Jordan, Don and who ever else we can recruit from the darkside.

Jordan & Don, on our way to see the great OZ

Sunday

J had a soccer game the night before, we got spanked and I don't want to talk about it. I woke up to face a century ride I had planned. For me this is how I come out of closure, its a good place to start it up and make a statement. Taking a week off is good for the mind and soul, by the end of the week I feel the urge to do something not lame.

I could call this the not lame century but I'll stick to its original name of the Hill and Dale. My best time for a century is an 18.8 avg but that is my relatively flat course. Yesterdays course has a lot more climbing, plus the wind was a factor. My avg. time of 18.3 may not seem much faster than my previous record of 18.1 but if this were a 100mile race I'd be done 5+minutes faster and thats getting closer to the podium.

On the way back to Lake rd I stopped at a bakery to get some water. I've been at this place before and knew I was going to get hosed $3 for a bottle of water. As retribution I ate the whole plate of free chocolate chip cookies while in line. Suck it.
Beside any bakery called CocoLuxe deserves to get all their free samples eaten by me.
