IGVENTURE

Hello its me.

After racing Sunday and getting banged up I switched up the work outs this week to give some more time to mend. My left quad and elbow where hurting earlier this week when I went down on the fire road at wayway. I took Monday off and did some light spinning Tuesday. By Wednesday I was ready to get back into drilling some intervals at the Swamp.

Wednesday I did the over geared power starts for 6x75x75. My first one is always the best after that the remaining 5 are never as strong. These are tough, after the 3rd one all's I can thing about is not wanting to do 3 more. I need someone to chase while doing these, that would give me more motivation.

Thursday back to the Swamp for some 3x8's. I find these to be easier, more manageable suffering + I only have to do 3 of them. There was more wind heading out so my speed was not as fast as the set coming back. Oh well there you have it...intervals.

Infringement

MTV has some explaining to do, this is a blatant rip-off of acts I have featured for you here. Not to mention using my name in the process. I am going to have my legal council of Mr. G. Glick to look into this matter, this aggression will not stand.

Violated

As well as being ripped off I can't help but feel violated after watching this video. This take Poor Iggy to a whole other level.

Hold on I'm not done, i hit the post button by mistake.

Listen up

This chicks sound is as interesting as her name, Lykke Li. Her music stands out and always catch's my ear when I hear it. She is like all up in your face, kinda like Fiona Apple. I'll give you a two fer tonight.

Long day for me today, I just got in 45 minutes ago.

In at work by 6am for the wknd. set up deal on the golf course. Back home by 10:30 to drive to Princeton area for J's soccer tourney. 2 games, 1:00pm and 4:45 pm. We loose the first because we sucked and managed to blow a 2-0 lead in the second game and end up with a tie.

I am ready to beat my bike up tomorrow at the great bagel race after hearing other soccer mom's whine all day about how rough the other teams play. If I didn't have to see these people every week I would tell them the boys just need to htfu.

Whatever, I need a beer. I'm holding back though, gotta get my crap together and be ready to leave early tomorrow. Liong your right Lobo does suck, but you prolly have some kinda childhood connection to his music that brings back great memories. For me its this song. The song blows but it reminds me of when I was a kid, and that doesn't blow.

Here is the wknd music fix, I like these lads. There like band nerds but not nerdy ones. I guess there is life after hs band so keep practicing your trombone kids.

The BB Race

There were 34 guys who raced in cat 1 class, I managed to come in at exactly 17th place or Midpack.

Before the race Jeff Mandell was pointing at me like Sargent Slaugter telling me I’m going down. I edged him out at the first BB so now he needed revenge. I like Jeff, if the enemy were to throw a grenade at us I know he’d be the first one to dive on it. I on the other hand would throw soundz on the grenade to save the platoon.

So the siren goes off and it’s a mad sprint to the single track. I slipped at the start of the st and went down, prolly jitters but I’m gonna blame that stupid little black plastic pipe going across the trail. It prolly wasn’t the pipe but I’m gonna say it was anyway.

Despite doing two wks of intervals this short track stuff still hurts like hell. Its just more intense than I’m used to working, but still loads of fun. This series is something that needs to continue so I have motivation to go faster on the mtb.

Sarge is way in front of me and I can’t even see him. Vreeland is way behind me and not they’re to provide me with motivation. I’m a lost soul fending for myself.

After 3 laps I settle in and start to pick off people that I should pick off. Pearl, some bulldog guy, Juan…who I must say always impresses me with his colorful sock collection. He had on these southwestern print socks in pastel colors, really dazzling. I’m kicking myself for not getting a pic of these.

Finally I caught up to Kirt, Woody and Jeremy. Dave Clapp was in this mix as well but he left us in the dust after he yelled old guys rule!. Coming around the start of lap 5 with 36minutes of racing in our jaws dropped when Dave Carson flashed a sign that said 2 laps. WTF!

Fortunately Maurice passed us in the last 1/8 of a mile on our 5th lap so we didn’t have to start another one. 26er was nipping at my heels in the back stretch; I managed to keep him behind me. I tried to take Woody at the line in a sprint but he wouldn’t have any of it. Woody was really strong for this one, I think it was that pump section. He got enough speed on those mounds to power through the whole back half of the course.

The Great Pumpkin Picnic and Bacon Explosion of October 9th, 2011.

I’m not gonna babble on about how much fun the picnic was, I’ll just say it was fucking great. Here are some pics.

The Great Pumpkin Picnic and Bacon Explosion Recovery Ride Of October 10, 2011

I don’t usually eat & drink so much, today my stomach felt unsettled. Luckily I didn’t have to work a full day and was able to get out on the bike early. Normally my recovery rides are about an hour or less. But when its 80 degrees in October its easy to spin longer and enjoy a 2+hour ride.

Halfway into the ride I needed to stop for a mandatory core workout. Fortunately I knew of a spot to do this and felt much relief afterwards. With the amount of food I consumed yesterday today’s recovery ride was extremely productive.

I think that is the first time I have ever seen rob smiling in a picture. He must have been enjoying it.

I figured it would be more fun for all if I let you know that I was "racing" you. Sgt Slaughter...funny. I read that earlier on the other blog and had no idea what you were talking about.

Nice job Sarge, I guess it worked. You layed in down and killed it. The thought of me chasing you was obviously your motivation...I do have that kind of power.

Rest Week

With the crappy weather coming in this week now seems like a good time for a rest week, I was due anyway. After the B&B race Sunday its time to take a physical as well as mental break from cycling. For me the mental aspect is as important as the physical, I need to stop biking sometimes so I can enjoy it more...like absence makes the heart grow fungus or something like that.

My next race is not until November 19 but I plan to do 3 century rides before this as well as a bunch of long mtb rides, so I'll need to go into this kinda training minty fresh.

Did You Hear

I've got good news that I haven't told you yet, well Robin knows...Mary got a job teaching.

My wife worked in retail for a lot of years, first with Sterns then with Linen's n Things. She worked in the buying office in Clifton. Those 2 retailers went out of business and my wife had enough of that work and decided to go back to school to get her masters for teaching. It was a 2yr process of going to school at night and substitute teaching during the day. I'm glad to say it paid off, she got a job pretty much right after graduating.

Mary was really down at times going through the process of a career change after 20 years in retail and was not sure if she would even get a job given the state of the economy and teacher cut backs. When she got the job in the beginning of August I think we cracked a bottle of wine every night for like a week. Having a job you like can make you happy.
