help from Porsche enthusiasts

Wife saving up for a Panamera, but I'm still pushing for either a Gran Coupe or CLS. Ratis cost a ton to maintain.

If I had Panamera money, I'd get a E63-S AMG instead, no question, that car is bonkers. There is no Panamera that can hang with that car, except for the Turbo-S that costs $170k, and even that is a maybe.

E63 S wagon is dream status for me. That or RS4 avant which won’t be coming to the US

Audi are assholes for not offering the RS-4 or RS-6 Avant here, and not offering a real transmission with the RS-4, not even the DSG. Oh yea, and they completely ruined the S4. AMG-Benz can be forgiven because they never offered a manual, and at least they put a wet-clutch pack in their automatics to make the shifts happen harder and faster. And they put real motors in their cars.

The problem with Rennlist is that some of the people there have drunk too deeply from the Porsche Coolaid, or have taken one too many hits from the glass dick, and are asking stupid prices for their cars.

Maybe worth looking at the 1999 996.
This is in this months NNJR-PCA newsletter.

Thanks,
I recall you recommending the not getting a Cab or Targa, but those upgrades on the 2000 seems to be a good deal for 18K
Guess maybe it may be a bit beat up with the track time and changes?

For the 1999, so that I get better at reading ads, what make it worth looking at?

It doesn't matter what the Coolaid drinkers at Rennlist or PCNA say, the 996's are garbage. My relative does this for a living for the biggest Porsche dealer and tuner in the country, he's been around these things every day for over 10 years, and would not let me buy a 2001 turbo that I had my eye on (price was aces). If he says they're shit, I'm taking his word for it.

anyone know which year 997s updated the IMS bearings and seals, I could only come up with the following has the old specs:
- 997 3.6ltr with M96/05 up to engine number 6950745

What about a quick survey?
996 Turbo or 997 S
Both in the same price range with under 40K miles

Here is what I was told when I asked about the 996 Turbo that I also found at an unbelievable price, a Florida car too at that; "Sure the engine is good but the rest of the car is shit. If you want to watch a car fall apart around the engine, then go for it".

alright, I give, here's a good write up of reasons to not get a 996
