Cash? An old 911 Targa is my dream car. Late 70's. As something to replace my GTI I'd do a Cayman S. By the time I could do it the second gens should be in my price range. Although I don't mind the way the first ones look. I'd mod it anyways so...

Only because Porsche doesn't do the Toyota tan and gold combo.
 
after some research seems like 30K is a bit low for "good" examples, 40K-50K is the sweet spot for used models I'm after.
going to start looking at last gen Caymans and Boxters, but that 718 is so damn pretty

The problem with the 718 is that they changed the motor from a H6 to an H4 turbo. Even though the 718 is better than the previous car in every way (more power, torque, faster, handles better, looks better), lots of people can’t get over the sound of the 4 vs. 6 (the 6 sounds absolutely bad-ass). The 718 almost matches the GT4 in performance, and the S blows the old GTS away. I don’t think that it sounds like a WRX, but it certainly doesn’t sound like the old 6.
