Car-spotting thread

Well in the movie...the car doesnt really have much of an exhaust sounds...its mostly the sound you would hear from the front of the car...sound of the carbs fully opened up, engine roaring....I can say that I have ridden in a car with a 428 and it sounds pretty much the same as my 390 (pretty much the same engine) and at no part in christine did i feel like I was hearing a ford FE.....Bullit on the other hand, there are several times where it sounds EXACTLY like my car, like spot on perfect.
Sounds pretty bad here..

Meetings all day and no chance to ride. Took a different loop through the neighborhood with the dog and realized both these SUbis are within a few blocks of each other.
The newer one has a vanity plate that says SUBIDUU

Then I saw this older style conversion van thing. Would be something cool to have to do some touring and not impossible to drive.

The same one that pushes the oil through the rest of the engine in fact
I figured with the extra height and lines it would need to supplement with a secondary pump. Would this setup circulate less oil up to the filter compared to down where is normally would be? Just curious

nope, same amount of oil, at essentially the same pressure, just has to push it farther, might require a bit more oil but nothing significant. all it does is have an adapter for the factory oil filter location with hoses to the filter mount you see there. the factory oil pump already pumps the oil to the top of the engine, this is not any significant height difference from that.

I'm going to check this out on Friday - the following Friday will be fishing in MN. Anyone else going?

@UtahJoe @GSTim @Carson @qclabrat @icebiker @jimvreeland
looks like they adjusted the times- 4:30 to 7:30pm with two meets left for the year
I'll get there early as my lights are still rather dim

I'm planning to go this one on Thursday in Bound Brook, I met the guy who runs this at the Sunday meet up in Warren downtown

ok i actually went and looked this up bc I was certain that picture was a photochop....wow...they actually do this on the diesels so make they sounds more like v8s and not diesels.....has to be a European thing...in the US we love our diesels cars sounding like tractor trailers, and blowing out huge clouds of black smoke....While in Europe, diesels now have a bad rap.

This is crazy. Modern diesels aren't even that loud. I used to have to turn off the 7.3 while going thru a drive-thru (that thing sounded awesome tho!) My current Cummins Ram isn't loud at all and it's a LOT more powerful than the 7.3 (and a lot cleaner too). IMO, it's a great package and I cannot see why anyone would want to tune a modern diesel in one of the big 3 trucks.

The black smoke trend seems to be dying down (thankfully). I had an OM617 with a modified IP and the stock turbo couldn't keep up with the fuel delivery. A little throttle and the EGT's would go up very quickly. The little smoke was fun but...

Regarding black smoke, Gale Banks comments on another group's diesel tuning is really good: https://www.thedrive.com/news/33384...-banks-torches-hoonigans-967-hp-diesel-camaro

BTW - I love how Banks correctly says lb/ft but almost says ft/lb like the other guy uses when talking at 9:44.

I am hoping to bring my kids to the Boonton event on Friday

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Assuming my freshly sealed driveway is dry by then (should be) I’m in. Should we plan on just meeting there or do we caravan there wearing blue and orange 😄

Great! What are you driving again? I'm planning to get there around 4
