Camp Cromwell property

@Kirt and I finished roughing in Larry Bird today.

Assuming this park ever opens to the public, this will be the short climbing trail from the basketball 🏀 court parking 🅿️ lot to the highest point in the park.

It’s really been far too hot but we pushed on through.
This line on trailforks no longer is representative of the trail.
Rode it this evening, came out great

I can’t state this strongly enough… this is NOT a political statement, simply an FYI.

I find a few of these on almost every ride at Cromwell. I find them mostly up to near the shed where the culverts are staged. Had to google what type of ammo they are. Turns out they are non-lethal primer only practice rounds. I guess they are using the hill as a backstop.

I’ve picked up and tossed out at least 25-30 over the last few months. They’ve all been spent cartridges so far; just concerned about the potential of a kid finding a misfired shell and playing with it.

i have heard that the local PD and FD used the empty building on the grounds for training purposes.

Possibly. Just surprised they’d just leave their brass (er, aluminum) all over. If I did that as a kid it would be a tight race between my dad and grandpa as to who would’ve backhanded me first. Just say’n.

Should make for some good options for trail names
Full metal jacket, munitions, spent round, shelled, etc…

with all the growth around the buildings its not unreasonable to think some rounds would be missed while policing their brass its not like they are in hostile territory trying to hide.....

I tried to find the location of those ground hornets off Vosseller today, but came up empty. I made a bunch of noise and threw some rocks around the area but nothing. I'm not dedicated enough to go off the trail looking, so it will remain unresolved for now. There is another one on lower Black at the freshly cut tree at the 1st ravine. I did one can post cut yesterday and another today but still not completely taken care of. I'll try and swing back over to take another look within the next couple days. So try not to be at the back of any group rides for a bit longer.

You should just follow me.. they’ve gotten me twice already.
It’s been a few weeks- I’ve been through a few times since and haven’t seen any. I was hoping they had left until I saw this post.
