Camp Cromwell property

Come up and play in actual dirt one day. text @Kirt if you want to be on THE list.
I've texted that @Kirt guy a few times. He always gives me the wrong location? Like he doesn't need my help???

I'll try him again. I think he thinks I'm after his job.....

Anyhow J, keep up the great work. Between you, Kirt, @Frank @pooriggy , @Matt_ @Norm and all the other great park people we here in NJ are lucky to have all of you guys!!!!!!! Very lucky.... Thank you all..

There are way more names to list but I have to go drive my Mom to her Dr. Appt.

I also DM'd @Kirt to add me to the email list. Wouldn't have been able to make yesterday but if I have availability more than happy to lend an immature hand.

Looks great, hopeful we'll get some rain in the coming days to compact the new digs
catch22 walt! more rain makes parts of the park less rideable! but yeah, need everything to come together quick so we can all enjoy the continued hard work going on at cromwell, it has yet to disappoint and i'm sure this won't either

No comment on the special guest we had? Special thanks to the all stars that joined us. @snashters @don and Ethan

I was over there today and it's drying up nicely. Hoping to open this in the next couple of weeks.

We weren’t quite ready to open this, but the riding public decided to open it for us. It’s still soft, but the weather looks good

If you like it, pay 💰 your jorba bill. If you have suggestions on how to make it better, DM @Kirt. We’d love to have your help

Thank you! At the risk of the cross post, We should get an OOS tour of these trails when passable. No drop real OOS stuff. Who can lead?

WOW!!

I rode here over a year ago and Thursday it was like hitting a new park. The trail work is incredible and provided a completely different ride than last year.

Thanks to Kirt, Paul, Jason, Norm and John Sisto, who chose an elegant way to honor his brother.

The addition of Cromwell to CR makes it one of the elite level destination parks of the rock garden state. The berms, tabletops and jumps will keep the NICAs busy for decades.

Both times I parked on Waldron, up near Ken's house in the shade, and rode the quarter mile over Voseller to Cromwell.

Donated.

Wednesday was awesome! So many kids looping having a blast.

I went back last night and one of our sixth graders had so much fun he brought his mother and younger brother back for more laps!

Ran into @Norm on my way in and I think his way out and I joked that it feels like everytime you go back there it gets better and better. The amount of work y'all are doing is awesome and very much appreciated.

My only regret is work has gotten so insane I have less time to ride the trails or volunteer w/ you guys.

I'm getting way more efficient w/ the mini x for sure.. But i'm still looking back to what I did a few weeks ago thinking I could have done a few things better.

I'll throw a bit of self-promotion here too: The success of halters cycles allows me to dedicate my free time to this project.

Sunday afternoon there were two windfalls blocking trails on the east side of the Camp. One was about 4" but green and long. The other one was 8-10" thick and rather massive. I didn't have a tool, doe

We completed the (rough cut) of the 3rd section of the 2025 project today. @snashters / @Kirt and I constructed what I believe is the biggest berm in the (CR) park.. It needs a bit more tweaking but we are getting closer to a vision that we began last fall.

Much Excite!

I rode it on Tuesday and I think this might end up being the best of the 3 jump trails.
Though I'm still not sure if I should go left or right around that one tree in the trail 🙂

We're really pleased with how the trail work is progressing. It's been fascinating to collaborate with someone who brings a slightly different perspective. The differences in our visions actually make the collaboration really enjoyable.

At #6mr, I mostly relied on instinct. But here at Cromwell, Kirt and I discuss each section every day we work, always exploring how to optimize every foot of the trail. We don't always see eye-to-eye, but our discussions are never contentious; it feels more like two painters contributing to the same canvas – a true team effort. As an added bonus, @snashters often adds his finishing touches and valuable insights.

I'm incredibly grateful for Kirt's trust in allowing me to be part of this project.

Personally, if you're carrying enough speed, the downhill line has to be on the right side of that tree.

In reality, the improvements in this new section likely stem from our growing experience in trail building. We've already invested nearly 300 hours on this part of the trail since January . (BTW you can contribute $ HERE)

I already see areas from last year that I'd like to revisit. However, as always, it's impossible to fully anticipate how riders will use the trail and how the weather will affect the tread.

A significant part of our focus is figuring out how to maintain a dry trail surface. @Kirt and I even spent three hours in Wednesday's downpour to observe exactly what happens when it rains. Redirecting the natural flow of rainwater is more challenging than one might think, but we're making good progress.

On a related note, we've intentionally left the black trail untouched (for now) to serve as an indicator of overall trail conditions. If the flat section of the black trail is waterlogged, Cromwell might not be the best choice for riding that day.

Thanks again!

I've ridden here a few times and it is pretty easy to follow, but I could lead a few laps around this place one weekend... if it ever stops raining. Post up some weekends in the OOSer section and I can figure out which ones I can lead.
