Camp Cromwell property

Was there this afternoon. It’s a hoot!
Did you ride the biggest berm of all time??

I am pretty proud of what we have done here thus far. We are not even close to done, but once the word gets out, this place will be a madhouse.

We are working really hard to keep it high and dry. That said, please offer some respect after a heavy rain and give it a fair chance to dry.

I most certainly did. If that thing curved anymore it’d be a circle! 😍

There is one kinda sketchy spot but I think with more use it’ll work out fine.

Mud hole?? I just need a few dry days to firm that up. There was no culvert there and we basically created a Dam. On Wed we threw in a culvert and now the whole hillside drains nicely.

Actually, the only mud hole on the new work is by the excavator where the treads tore it up. 😉. The sketchy spot is towards the end of the run, there’s a left hand berm leading to a transition rise which immediately precedes a right handed berm. None of this by itself is problematic. The issue (imo) is that exiting the first berm there is a water egress cut on the outside (right side) of the turn which is fine, you need to go left anyway to setup for the right hander … but there is a tree near the (left) inside that at speed may be a bit much for the novice riders that will be flocking here. Selfishly, with a little more room (and practice ) I MIGHT be able to use the riser to gap to the top of the second berm. Words I NEVER thought I’d say. 😊

Lets get you out there and we can fix it!!

We made it to the top of the new trail today. This last bit of work was nearest to the basketball Ct and the only spot holding water.

Pulled the machine out for some service.

Very glad to finish this section.

#franksFlow is what I’d call this segment.

I bet it was soft. I won't be back there for the next ten days so chime in if it needs attention.. @Kirt is sure to go back after this rain tonight to see how it drains.
It wasn't bad, the softest part was where you crawled the machine in/out a long the fence line.

Bruh. The new stuff is off the hook!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

It looked like it rained overnight, so I was a bit reticent to head over there, especially with all the standing water and usual soft spots on Black. But I gotta tell you, I don't think I saw so much as a mushy spot at Cromwell! Wettest part I came across was one of the rock gardens and the creek crossing. Just amazing work!!!! Another small donation sent!

Dry and loose today midday (but tstorms are a-coming). Upper perimeter trail flow work is new since my last ride here and it's very nice! Trail section around the defunct basketball courts could use a haircut soon. Finally figured out how to link everything together nicely and do laps of Stop Sign and Shed. Both seem rockier/looser than i remember. Got sketchy at speed in a couple places. Have some ideas to fix a couple spots but don't want to nit-pick. Keep up the good work!

How are you linking the new outside left trail? I had a loop which included the two flow trails and also the outside right, which I've been calling the Longest Mile. With the new trail, I'm just hitting the Longest Mile backwards around to the new trail

I come from Ballfields/Black, do the Cromwell perimeter counter clockwise (start rider's right from Black and loop all the way around). The first time i hit Stop Sign i come from "Hump Trail Access". Then when i climb back up for laps, i follow the red lines and you can get to either DH trail at the fork. On my last climb up, i do the full rider's left perimeter trail to get up above Hump Trail Access and take that back down and hit one of the DH trails back to Black.

This has been my preferred way to string it together lately.

Start clockwise on the outer loop then cut in to hit stop sign. Then climb ccw on the outer loop (which I’ve personally dubbed “the least shitty trail to climb”) then continue down to shed. This is all on the single track, I avoid the gravel.

@Kirt and I finished roughing in Larry Bird today.

Assuming this park ever opens to the public, this will be the short climbing trail from the basketball 🏀 court parking 🅿️ lot to the highest point in the park.

It’s really been far too hot but we pushed on through.

This line on trailforks no longer is representative of the trail.
