Any Skiiers/Snowboarders Out There?

Heading to snowbird last week in march for easter. My week there every year thanks to that timeshare thing. best week to be there. no crowds, over 450" of snow and usually a base of about 102". last year sucked due to the crappy winter but they are making up for it this year. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

Last year this time was crappy? I was out there for Easter with Glancing Aft and we thought it was awesome. If I wasn't buying a house, I would be back there in a heartbeat.

This past Saturday I went up to Belleayre and found the best conditions I have seen in a long time for a NJ/NY boarder. The snow/rain mix we got had left 12" in places up there, and it continued to snow all day! All of the trails were open and the glades had decent cover. For the money booter, there was no one there. Why??? Everyone missed out. What a blast. I'd put up a pic but I don't know how. Beginner and all <-------

Agreed, I thought it was some of the best mashed potatos I've ever skied on. And the surprise easter morning storm was a blast. I do see how the snowpack could have been on the low side for that time of year, but everything was open so no biggies.

In other news I busted my Lib Tech NAS this weekend by pulling an edge. Word from the shop is it wont be covered under warranty cause it's an impact break. BS, they are park skis, they should be designed to withstand boxes and rails and not bust after only 30 days out. Looks like the Quicksilver/Rossignol empire is now on my shit list. Don't buy Lib!

Sounds good! I was up there with my Father last Sunday (March 24th) and it was pacccccked. Tomahawk was closed all morning too due to mechanical issues, it was a disaster. Glad to hear you had fun!

Coming from a snow sports industry background i have to say there is not a company out there who will warranty impact damage.(unless s&*t has changed in the past 3 years) I heard alot about it in the snowboard world. Even out side of the park (where real riders ride) if you core shot your ski / board hitting a rock under shallow cover, it is not covered. that is the assumed risk you take in the sport.
See if your local shop can repair it for you. if not bring it to Specialty Sports on 23 in Pompton Plains. they are a snowboard shop but I am willing to bet that Bill (owner) would take a shot at fixing a ski. the basic idea is the same just on a smaller scale. I have seen them ressurect some pretty busted boards.
think of it this way....if you smack a rock with your MTB wheel and turn it into a taco mold who is responsible? the rock? the wheel? the person "in control" of the bike?
Really, why bash Lib they need to earn dope money just as much as everyone else😀.

Monkey Boy,
The bashing is because this ski broke in a way I've never had a ski break before. Usually impact breaks I've experience are from shots to the base/core which pull the edge out horizontally (yes I ski elsewhere than the park and have hit rocks before 🙂 )or a delamination at the tip or the tail from landings off of jumps. This break while most likely a result of impact from a jump or rail, I feel is a result of poor manufacturing with the ski not being left in the press long enough. There is a vertical separation of the edge from the sidewall of the ski underfoot at the center of the ski. Looking at the base in the location of the separation the base is in perfect shape. The skis are in a shop right now but I'll try to post up a picture when I get them back.
The Lib bashing is simple, they are a company trying to break into the ski industry that has a product that will not withstand a normal seasons use. So when their name is brought up I will be the first to say that their quality is crap.

No matter how it happens, broken gear sucks. I snapped the toe of a binding in half once, it really ruined my day. Thankfully, that binding ended up getting recalled, so it got replaced for free. Good luck getting a suitable replacement.

I was going to touch on the Lib dabble into the ski industry but didn't want to flame any fires🙂
And I would have to agree with Crash. broken gera no matter what absolutely sucks.
Based on your description it does sound really odd how the edge seperated. Lib should see it. who is the local rep? I would get in touch with him/her. In the snowboard world most of the reps are pretty open and usually work with a tech- rep who has extensive equipment knowledge. They tend to welcome feedback on the product.
Ski side I don't know. I am used to fairly arrogant sales reps I hope things have changed.
All in all I hope it works out, you get them fixed, put them on ebay , buy a snowboard , experence a good powderday on a snowboard and be perminantly converted.
Then I will consider a 29" SS.

For the love of God, keep him off a board. I saw him on a board one time and it was not pretty.

Oh please Mike, you're just jealous that after not being on a board for nearly 10 years I was able to do a frontside 180 while hammered on my second run. 😀

MB,
I'm definitly going to contact Lib, I did like their product and wouldn't mind seeing them suceed in the ski industry if they can improve their quality. Their magnetraction is perfect for east coast ice and if they come out with a ski with it and rock tips and tails it would be perfect!

Gore Mtn

anyone been to Gore Mtn? Got 2 free lift tix at the Banff Film Fest last night so I'm thinking about making the trek up there.

I have not been but free is free. I'd go but not unitl it gets cold again. It will.

^ 360 mushroom tree tap, I'd love to get something like that. damn this east coast and it's lack of snow/real mountains... Here's some stuff to get you boarders to love us skiers, check out clip 2 http://www.rip.tv/contest/coldrush

I've never been to Gore either, if I'm going to drive that far I'll go to VT, but for free I'm sure it'll be greaaaaaaaaaat.

I ended up ordering new skis last night, they should be here in time so I can mount them up for Vermont next week. I demoed them back in December and loved how much pop they had, and with 93mm under foot I'll float well in the pow. Oh and the graphics are so over the top that I love em.

I'm going to Gore next weekend. I've been there during the summer and the terrain looked cool.

I'd start rockin a fat rope gold chain if it would make me half as smooth as MFM.

I've been to Gore years ago I do remember liking it, but can't remember why. They used to have this crazy little egg shaped 4 person gondola, i think they got ride of it. Same here if i'm rollin north for 4hrs i'm going to VT, too
