Hi Manny, yes I remember, slight over-reaction on my part!! 😱

I don't see that on the course map - if you are referring to a street name!?
I am motivated at the moment...determined to do well. (within my est. time). Sticking to training although have had to really push myself past couple days. Harder when I have to push our 3.5 year old!

Running in the Rain

Hey, I have a question. Is there anything I should do or know about running the rain prior, during or after? I'm trying to get back into a running regiment but knowing myself, if I stop for a couple of days of rain that will makes harder to stay committed to running on a regular basis.

Hi guys
I'm looking 4 trail half marathon and if you know about any good races in the area pls let me know.
Thanx.

there's a 50K trail run in october in ringwood, but they canceled it at the last moment last year. check runningintheusa.com - they have the most local races.

i run in the rain, not because i like it, but because i run 5-6 times a week and, well, after an august like we had, you just get used to it. i have a running cap by asics that's lightweight that i wear if it's raining, and i'm sure to wear a sleeveless shirt so it bogs down less. that's about it. careful around traffic.

Does anybody use the nike+ chip when they run? My chip no longer works so well. Its telling me I'm running longer then I actually am. Its about a tenth of a mile off. So after a few miles it adds up. I'm wondering if just buying a new chip and sensor will fix this or If I need to recalibrate.

I used it for awhile. Were you running on a track? I'm wondering if it was always accurate.

Honestly, nothing is accurate. Not tracks, Nike+, even most GPS watches are off a bit. I ran a 5-mile race Monday and my Garmin said 4.9 when I finished. I figure a 10th of a mile here and there isn't much to fret if you're running a lot. But recalibrate the thing and maybe it'll get closer to the truth.

Before I got the chip I used map my run. The first 300 miles of running with the chip the distance compared with map my run was almost dead even. Each run remained about the same distance too. Then all of a sudden I'm doing the same run and its about .5 tp .75 miles longer. I'm now a speed deamon and Tiger Woods keeps congradulating me for my longest runs. I know my runs did not get longer. The difference is I'm trying to run faster but I know i'm not as fast as the thing tells me. I need to go to the track and try and calibrate it myself but I think there is something about Hoboken's track that is not regulation size.

64:15 for the 10-mile race I did on Sunday. 6:25 pace. Pretty happy with that given the second 5 miles was all uphill, including a few doozies. My buddy and I finished within a tenth of a second of each other, so that was pretty cool.

Lotsa 5Ks coming up so if I keep my training up I've got an outside chance of winning one or two of them. After two years of mid to back-pack mountain biking results, it's nice to finish well.
