27.5+ dying??

It takes about 3-6 months for it to be second nature

Do you need to be riding during those 3-6 months?

Is it normal for your derailleur to automatically shift gear while you're trying to activate your dropper post?

Asking for a friend.

Do you have it on the same side as your shifter and somehow hitting your shift at the same time

I was hinting at the fact that sometime I push the shifter instead of the dropper post lever. Nothing wrong with the bike, it's the rider...

I rode a 27.5x2.6 Santa Cruz 5010 this past week, and I was totally surprised with how good it was. I don't think I'd like it as much on my local trails, but who knows. Based on this experience though, I can see 27.5+ (meaning 2.8-3") getting left behind. Guess I should stock up on some 27.5x2.8 Minions now.

Also, I don't know how anyone can ride without a dropper post.

Also Also, my Reverb works fine down to 10 degrees, so I don't know what everyone else's problem with it is. That said, I apparently killed mine and will eventually need to replace it.

This was the only time I used mine. I hear people saying they drop them in rock gardens and going thru fast turns as well, that I couldn't get used to

Fast, tight, bermed flow turns, for sure. Like Allaire or Six Mile. U can make the rider and bike "smaller," while still keeping weight centered over the BB. This also makes it easier to pedal through these types of trails. Plus, the gnarly bits...

I am Prolly over exaggerating since it only happened once... But climbing circle switch with the dropper down even if only once makes you think twice and deter you from pushing that lever.

I should mention that I already put an XX1 drivetrain on it and probably soon a standard seat post. I’m trying to use/like the dropper, but I still don’t see the point.

give it time. Follow a friend for a day who has the dropper wired. Ask them to call out each time they drop and raise their post.

I was a slow dropper convert, now I couldn’t live without it.

I have the dropper post higher than where it would be if it was a fixed post. For me the fixed post position was always a compromise between climbs or descends.

With the dropper I can be at the best seat height for best leg extension. Even at Allaire the post gets used almost as much as the shifter.

Agree, it's the best thing for mtb in years.

i learnt how to use the dropper by following @JimN. now i get it.
was using in tight turns and dh, but more now in tech. and stopping (key!) meaning after ya stop.

Who doesn't enjoy a good anus tickling? TMI?

Dry dropping it on the fast descents when you need to move the bike around a little. Get into the habit of dropping it when the trail points down and stand if you need to pedal. It will become second nature quickly, no anus tickling required. Unless you want anus tickling.
Anus ticking is good and I agree if you’re on something super steep that is the ONLY time I think about using it. I still have no problem getting far enough back to be comfortable. Maybe I’m more bendy than most? It’s good for more than just date night.

That’s what I was thinking too. I need someone to hold my hand and show me when they use it. It’ll either get it or toss it off the bike soon after.
