2022 31/31 Ride daily for bragging rights and a reward. TM / Jorba / MtbNJ /

Took two rides to get it done today. 15a: The Pivot was ready, and the SIR9 needed a brake bleed and new pads. I rode to the new bike shop/cafe in town, Gears and Grinds/Cranky Noodle to swap bikes. Connor, the shop owner, is great, and this is exactly what Sparta needs.

Chance meeting @SpartaBard at the shop. We decided to grab lunch at the Cranky Noodle. My daughter works there, so I proceeded to embarrass her, only the way a Dad can, and we washed some awesome Ramen down with ginger lemonade.

15b: @Norm nailed it.. i felt really crummy today. I think I've been pacing the challenge well, but my shins/Achilles are sore AF, and my head just wasn't there. Did an hour in Weldon WMA but for some stupid reason cropped out 16 minutes.

One beautiful morning ride. Afternoon ride took me past the Vreeland House Outkitchen, where Jim gets his special sauce for the Long rides.

Had to go to the office to cull through 10+ years of files, etc. today in advance of our move. Had just enough energy left when I got home to take a spin over to Duke Farms. Was happy to see the Shark Week blimp in the air tonight… which is cool if you’re into blimps and/or sharks.

Also saw this little creature on our way out of Duke Farms up by the falls. The turtle looked how I felt today.

Day 14: Six Mile with the Architect

Back on the mountain bike tonight, we headed over to Six Mile for the leaderless ride and met up with the leader himself, @jdog as well as Ed plus James who is a friend of Jay. Small crew tonight but this is what happens when the dog days of summer roll in. While the temps are hot, I feel like this summer has been less humid & less brutal than years past. In the woods feels decent. As the sun goes down it feels pleasant, almost.

It's dusty, for sure. I will be digging dust from my eyes for the next 12 hours I imagine. But it was good. We kept a nice moving pace, barely beating the sun setting. In reality, we took the road back because we failed to beat the sunset and nobody had lights. Just as well, my legs are tired at this point in the month and tonight was no exception. Was feeling draggy in the last 20 minutes or so.

13 of 14 on the mountain bike so far.
