After taking a planned day off yesterday due to having to go to the office for the last time all I thought about was how many people got caught in one of the crazy downpours.
Was going to ride early today but decided to just sleep in and ride with the WFH crew during lunch instead. We were 3 today and just did some cruising around with a few hard segments where we had a tailwind. Sun was hot but breeze helped. I’m immediately feeling the weight drag of the OEM rear wheel I have to use now that my freehub blew up but hoping to find a new set of wheels soon .
Forgot to take any pics today so here’s a pic of a Beary funny mailbox I saw a few weeks ago.
7/17….(17/31)
A mix of road and gravel on the mtb with a bit of “Yacht Rock” to finish out the ride. More my parents demographic, but what we saw of the show seemed like a good time. https://strava.app.link/X8sVKXRINrb
7/18…(18/31)
Was worried all day yesterday about battling rain drops, but we got lucky and found a window to stay dry. Plus took advantage of a fun bike rack for a photo op. https://strava.app.link/ZpuF0s4INrb
19/31 - Decided a fast road ride sounded like fun. Haven't done one in over a year and wanted a good shelling. Chased a couple strong sprints and came really close to taking a fast segment. The legs should be feeling it tomorrow, probably be an easy day.
19/31 A failed beginner ride but a nice evening out non the less. Rode with @Mike A and @dhsean so it was fun. Temps were not bad as there was a bit of a breeze to start the ride.
7/19…(19/31)
All caught up with posting the rides. We decided to do a silly little experiment in forward and rewind to see if we could make it exactly 1 hour out and back to a closed bridge in the park from the house. It worked down to the second, but I still went around the block an extra time for good measure. https://strava.app.link/OxXmKKWSNrb
Probably going to string a few road rides together if I keep waking up and being able to see the air. Today was another in a long line of what one might describe as Summer Hump Days. That said, nobody is humping much because it's just too steamy. In reality, I felt today was much less moist than yesterday. But that's sort of like saying 1 egg is more eggy than another egg.
We knocked out almost 90 minutes and at the end brought our average up from 16.7 to 18-even in the last ~10 miles. It's a relatively flat finish to this ride and I was feeling great in that last half hour. Of course, having done these roads 100s of times with many different groups, there is 0.0 chance we ever set any PRs but that's ok. It felt good to be out there.
In the next few days I will probably advise people who are struggling to consider some back-to-back recovery days. I would also suggest everyone on this thread go to the Nassau group ride on Saturday. I plan on being there.
I remembered to take a picture today. It is more or less the same as the previous 250 road ride pictures I have taken.
I’m being a good soldier and working my way back into the physical office more than one day a week. Today was the day I attempted and succeeded at that. Having this challenge is just pure motivation to not take the light rail or pay $$$ bucks to park in my building.
Started the day before it got stupid hot along the boardwalk… trying to dodge the light rail and failing.
This is me mid day to get home first via my car. For some reason my project managers find it good to schedule meetings from 11-1 so I used my commute post and had a quick salad after I got home…
Why rush home? Glad you asked 😂. I pick up my daughter from her day camp bus and hang with her or in most cases be her chauffeur to swim team. Today was swim lesson with her coach and after let hang out and you know… be a kid.
I knew I had to finish some amount of minutes when I got home after she finally called it quits and glad I fought the sun and won. No pictures for last or mid ride as I was rushed…
