Music

today I listened to some....

life of agony
mighty mighty bosstones

yesterday it was

carnival of souls
chili peppers
soundgarden
rage against the machine

thats all I can remember

Really digging this Billy Bragg & Wilco album right now:

Yes from 1998 but I only got it somewhat recently and I really like it. Sounds almost like what the Replacements might have become if they had gone in another direction. Stands the test of time well. It could have been released this year.

California Stars, in my opinion, is the quintessential Wilco song.

Meanwhile, I've been trying to track down and download the Wilco gig at Austin City Limits last month. They played the whole show on XM radio and they are on fire right now. This show hasn't aired yet on PBS.

i really like "ain't nobody that can sing like me". is that natalie merchant singing background vocals?

Funny, I had the CD on in the kitchen and my wife says, "Sounds like Natalie Merchant." I reply, "bah, no idea." She looked and indeed, it was.

More METTTTTTTTTTTTTAL!

Currently.....

Angra- Temple Of Shadows
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Sonata Arctica - Unia

So many labels/genres now...I guess these guys fit on "Neo-Classical Progressive Metal", "Symphonic Power Metal", "Progressive Metal" :drooling: :drooling:
I say just leave it at METAL :getsome:

Walter,
I finally got a hold of the Danzig unreleased tracks CDs (thanks for reminding me at the picnic). I guess that is why they were unrealeased..😀 I am not getting into them:hmmm: I guess I need a few more "listens"

I think after a few wasted cash dumps into "unreleased" material you get an appreciation for the artists's discretion the first time around.

Agreed, I have to admit when I first got these CD's I was a little excited. I guess when you here new stuff its always interesting at first, you never know whats coming next. After having these for a few months and having the entire collection on my music shuffle, when Im doing stuff around the house or just listening to some music, when the Danzig stuff comes on its like a buzzkill. Not that its bad, its just so mellow and dark, it just thrws off my normal tempo.

Oh well, there is always Dying Fetus, Icepick, and Slayer. Lets not forget Radiohead😀

Always With Me, Always With You

This stuff is not really my thing, but when I was in college I hung out with a few drummers who were seriously into fusion and prog rock, and it led to me seeing some interesting shows. One such example was Joe Satriani at the Bottom Line, playing in support of Surfing With The Alien. We were sitting literally against the stage, and spent the entire show making faces at Satch, Stu Hamm, and Jonathan Mover. Pretty cool. Mover gave me his drumsticks after the show. Neato.

System rocks and Serj's album sounds similar from what I've heard. I have to get it. 😉

Nice!

Prog Jazz/Jusion are the best shows to see live and the small venues like the Bottom Line are great. It is a shame they closed it down. I saw a few shows there like Tony Levin (got him to sign a CD 😉 ) and Mike Stern with Victor Wooten and Dennis Chambers...just unbelievable musicians :scared:

Yes, it is like SoaD but without the Daron's vocals, which was kinda too much on the last 2 albums IMO. You won't be disappointed.🙂

I have a few songs here & there from Mr. Bungle & Fantomas but I can't say I listen to them too often.
