Everything should be pretty bad until Saturday's storm rolls in. I'm going to be in the Poconos this weekend so I'll report back.

Was going to go to Catskills today but bagged it, not worth ride/lift tic. Storm coming from west looks like snow in PA & NJ with less in Catskill region.
By the end of this month conditions should get better. Adirondacks & VT got snows this week 10"+.

I was up in Stratton over New Years, they got about a foot the first day we were there which actually conspired to make the runs really choppy, blower powder being scraped off of a solid ice base. The next day was awesome though. Cold! Like 0 degrees cold!

In other news, has anyone been to Butternut in MA? I think I am headed there tomorrow AM (going to be in Boston area tonight). I just want a low down on the place so I know what to expect.

I have not, but have never heard anything good about the place. My advise, would be spend and extra hour in the car and hit up a southern VT or NH resort like Mt Snow on your way home. If you're into park Crotched Mountain in southern NH is supposed to have a really good setup, open to 3am on Fri and Sat night. Although that doesn't help you. I could be wrong with Butternut, interested to hear your report.

heading to hunter tomorrow anyone gone this past weekend? how are the conditions?

Hunter should be good, they got snow on Sunday.

I was going to head up tomorrow, but it is supposed to be single digit temps & windy.

Probably just hit Creek or Blue since it is supposed to break 20 at the more southern areas.

Man I must be gettin old.

Buttenrut, MA

I boarded at Butternut this past Saturday. The place was small, but was convenient to where we were going afterwards and the price was right (35$ with student ID....don't tell anyone that I have not been a student in years). In fact, every week from Mon to Thurs lift tix are $20. Anyway, it was an old school mountain, certainly not a resort type. Four lifts, maybe a thousand feet vert. If I was bombing a run I could go top to bottom in two to three minutes.

I was there with my girlfriend, who is learning and it was a great mountain for that. If I was looking to do some serious riding I would have been disappointed by what they had to offer. I did think they made good use of the terrain they had though, the blue runs were full of swoopy bumps that you could launch off of, and lots of little off camber sections to play around.

I was there on Sunday for the snow. It was a pretty darn good day.

They must have been hurting before that snow.

It has been cold so my bet is that they are in pretty good shape.

I'm debating going to the creek next time I'm home or just driving up North. Have you or anybody else been on South? What's the park setup like? Do they have a desent jump line going yet?

Good luck on the snowboard, skiing will miss you...

Today might be a good day to stay away from Jay peak.

High temp today of -11 LOW of -24!! and that is w/o wind chill!

I'm not giving up skiing! just trying something new.....

As for south- there is a great flow to the park however it's not the safest place on earth- there is NO etiquette. I would advise only going before 3pm on weekdays. After 3pm the school kids show up and on weekends it's a nightmare.

Any good ski/board trips to report?! Had a good weekend at skiing Stratton 😀 after a terrible day at Creek last week- fell so hard on my tailbone trying to board I thought I broke it. Any ideas for a good tailbone pad?
