What have you done to your bike today?

On the Blur, replaced a really worn Maxxis Rekon with an Aggressor

Dealt with a too Enduro tire setup and a too xc setup on the other wheelset so I changed it up. Also finally got the 2nd cushcore installed.

Stan's Flow CB7

Rear: Maxxis Rekon 29x2.4 (Cushcore)
Front: Maxxis DHR2 29X2.4

Roval Control

Rear: Specialized Fast Track 29x2.3 (Cushcore)
Front: Maxxis DHF 29X2.5

should be 2 solid all round options for everything I ride around NJ swapping options. Weight of the bike with the CB7's on them was 30.5 lbs.
Please 🔥 the blackwall tire, replace with gumwall then repost.

😉 Great setup.

Maxxis's gumwall options are sadly lacking. And then they have more of a skinwall look on the Ikons. Very frustrating....honestly will probably go back to black after these wear down just due to choices.

First time I can recall a rear derailleur cable slipped. I shift up and notice I’m not getting into the top two cogs. Typically (for me and wildcat anyway) this means a bent hanger or derailleur. But I pulled some cable through, adjusted everything and it works fine. Weird.

I was looking for the small metal brush I used for (car) brake caliper stuff to clean my cassette but couldn’t find it. Ran across this random semi-stiff plastic brush. Expectations were low but it worked excellent. Sweet!

Not as good as the bike posted above but I finally successfully changed the battery on one of these.

In the past I would try and end up stripping the screws. One quick email to Garmin and they wound just send me a whole new HRM and strap no questions asked. In fact I still have one brand new in the box I haven’t used yet. So figured to try it and it worked.

Pro tip : if you change the battery you need to reset the module by flipping the battery around and holding it in place for 10-20 seconds. Then put it back in the correct way and reassemble. Learned this trick the hard way years back.

This took much longer than I’m willing to admit.

I don’t understand the whole ride wrap thing. I’ve seen that crap start to yellow after a year. How much frame protection do you need? Not busting here. I’m genuinely curious. Do you remove it right before you sell it down the line? Won’t the paint that isn’t covered fade? I would think it’d be a huge pain to remove too.

Comes right off with a hairdryer. But I agree about the whole bike. Key spots, sure.

So due to the complete insanity that is current bike prices.....Im bringing this thing back from the dead

This is my old trigger 29er frame....I crashed at Glen Park in 2019 and broken the rear triangle...c'dale sent me a knew one, but the bike had over 8000 miles on it and it was time for an upgrade. Then I bought my tallboy frame and took whatever usable parts were on this bike and put them on that one. I was at one point going to throw this in the garbage. I dont like selling people my old and really beaten stuff and this thing has been to hell and back. HOWEVER...one of my old motocross buddies wants to get into biking and is trying to find a bike for like $3000.....The GARBAGE he is sending me links to....like first gen tallboys for $3000....I finally just told him...I'll put this back together for you, ride it for now until the prices get out of this insanity phase.

So anyway, this is day 1...

I was bored?

took the whole thing apart since i have to replace the lower swingarm anyway, and decided it would be a good time to clean all the pivots and run new cable housings. The internal routing is NOT as bad as i have heard it to be, but swingarm was in WAY worse shape than i thought it was when i noticed the crack

Talk about wraps - this is my local bike guy - he bought this from someone who owns a car wrap business and wrapped this entire bike. He said it was really a job getting that off
