31/31 ---> JULY 2017! CONTEST! WIN $100!

I struggled with my 8 miles today, but got it done. Still hot & sweaty. No good pictures,...except the baby birds under my carport.

Day 22 - Didn't feel so good when I woke up this morning. I think it's because last night I was watching the tour with Hobo Cat sleeping on me so I couldn't move and my legs kind of locked up a bit. So I wanted to do a ride that wasn't too tough but I also wanted a bunch of miles. So ... Green Ribbon Trail!

About 25 miles in, I stopped for some Gatorade and got the "two for" deal on the liter bottles. I poured most of the one into my bottle, and then drank the rest and then chugged the whole second bottle because I was really feeling the heat. That may not have been the best idea. I felt kind of shitty for the next 20 miles. I eventually was able to shake it off, but between that and the heat, what was supposed to be an easier ride wasn't as easy as I planned. Still a pretty decent day, though.

(P.S. It's still hot.)

Not really sure where I was going when I left home, but headed west as typical. A road at the top of Schooley's Mtn was closed, so I detoured and decided to head down the mountain to Hackettstown. I found a new route to bypass part of town. I headed up Waterloo road past Stephen's State Park, and the air seemed cooler along the river.

Saw an older style ice cream truck on someone's lawn.

Day 22

Headed up north today to check out some stuff around Windham, then hit the downhill park. First stop was Elm Ridge, which is something @jdog recommended. Some well built trails up there which is kinda cool. Met a few people in the lot who gave us some pointers. Knocked out those trails in about 90 minutes then got a twilight ticket to the downhill park. In the end 2 of the trails were good for runs so we hit them a few times before our time ran out. Grabbed some dinner and are now sitting in the epitome of mediocre hotels.

Wow...I was out for 1 hour 42 min. today, with a ride time of only 1 hour 6 min.
That means it took me about a half hour to cut that damn blowdown on Banker Trail.
Not really that long, as I needed some recovery time too.

Ride over or ride around......what's your pleasure.

Day 23 - Road ride. It wasn't too hot today, but it was brutally humid. I was so soaked with sweat that my hands kept slipping off the bars. I couldn't even wipe them on my kit because it was completely saturated. I was actually hoping it would rain so at least maybe I'd feel less gross ...

Took a detour through Del Val University. I was tempted to jump into the fountain.

A spirited ride in the cool rain with my wife. This was the second time in a week that we planned to ride to Califon for about 25 miles roundtrip and were thwarted by rain.
I didn't take any pictures in the rain. Also, since this was just an hour and the weather was so cool, this was a significantly faster average speed than I recall my wife ever riding.

Day 23

Woke up in Medicore, America. Grabbed a coffee & muffin then hit the parts of Elm Ridge we missed yesterday. Then we high-tailed home as we have shit going on tonight.

Days/Rides: 23/28
Time: 56:53 (10:53 over goal)

Since 2/day is the goal that puts me at 62-56:53= 5:07 from hitting my July goal. Just staying in the competition will allow me to do that so I'll probably adjust the goal to 73, which is the number of hours I put in last July. But I'll see how realistic that sounds when I actually hit 62.

I am also loving life right now. This whole Mountain Bike Gypsy thing is really fun. I feel really good on the bike these days.

And on day 23 I have to bow out. Woke up feeling like crap. Not a hang over either. Never recovered. Been too dizzy to ride. It was a good run. Hopefully back at it tomorrow.

Gl to the rest of you!

Nooooooooo!!!
There's still an hour 48 left!!

Looking for good rain jacket, what kind you wearing today?
@JRP581
Outdoor Research Men's Helium II Jacket
lightweight and pack-able. some reviewers say it's not waterproof, mine seems fine.
I like that the hood will fit over my helmet.
There is only one small inside pocket.
I got orange because I'm out a lot in hunting season.
