In the middle of installing a dropper post on my bike. Messed up one of the housing end caps, so gotta wait til tomorrow and grab an extra one, or five, from the shop. Gr.

Finished my dropper install! It works well! Picked up a few spare cable housing end caps from @jdog place when I picked up my rack today and was able to get it all finished up.

Put hydraulic brakes that @a.s. hooked me up with on the old Giant Trance. This had linear pull V brakes that had to go. If anyone wants the V brakes let me know, they are brand new condition.
Anyway, onto the pictures of the ol' steed with its new brakes:

More work on the Giant: swapped the heavy clunker of a Manitou fork for a RockShox Recon air, 120mm travel. Much, much better. After riding 29ers for so long, this feels so small, but I can't wait to really test it out on some trails. Felt nice and plush when I rode it in the street bouncing up and down on it.

Next step will probably be a shorter stem and different handlebars.
As old as this bike is, its still got quite the look of a modern trail bike.
I eventually want to put a 1x setup on it too. Either 10 speed or 11 speed.

That’s already a pretty steep HT angle and it’s going to get steeper still when the fork compresses a bit going down a hill. Be careful going much shorter on the stem length, because the bikes gonna get pretty twitchy.

Manitou Axel Comp. It's a heavy, clunky, coil spring fork. Straight steerer. It's in like new condition. You can have it if you want.

Wider bars will somewhat compensate for a shorter stem, as far as the twitchyness goes.

Tonight's project .....swapping out the old 175mm Raceface Turbine crankset on the FlareMax for a brand new set of 165mm Raceface Atlas.
