Here is an e-mail that i just got from the head honcho at the D&R canal system. These are the folks that manage the six mile run park system. It looks like all the work we have done is paying off. Thanks to everyone that has come out to our past trail days. If you have not been please consider coming out to the next one. It is actually a bit of fun.

Hey Guys,
We just recieved the final okay and the trail from Rte 27 to Middlebush is
now offically recognized!! Sorry it has taken so long.
I am going to start the process for the red trail re-route after I meet with
a volunteer who helped previously to create it. I'll be in touch soon to see
if we can get together to get your ideas. I would like to get this area
marked out and put in the necessary paperwork before June. My job is one of
the proposed cuts in the State budget, so at least if I am not here (or
Patricia) we will have something put in place.
Thanks for the good work. Mike Ley was out the other day and said the trail
was busy~

Speaking of the red trail. I took some time to hike around in it and man....that place is a dump...literally. There are just huge chunks where people have dumped lots of glass and I even spotted an oil container that was in the middle of the trail. It doesn't look like it gets a lot of use, besides the occasional bike track ;)...maybe they can be swayed to open it up to bikers too? If you could make it 1/8 as cool as the rest of the trail system it'd already be a huge improvement.

i like the red trail, although i do miss that really long high bridge that got swept away, that thing was scary, and i kinda like the vw bug, it adds character.

There is some pretty good potential on the red trail. We have been talking about getting it opend up for legit mt biking and with the work that we have done in the rest of the park it might happen. They are very pleased with the amount of users the new trails have brought.

The park people don't usually get over to the 27 lot so they have no idea the amount of users that ride on the eastern side. The new trails on the Canal rd side have really changed up the park and made the whole loop worth while. I have a bunch more new stuff planned over there which should make it even better. I might not push for it until for fall but there is much more to come.
