prolly hit Seeley Pond Lot about 7:30 tomorrow if anyone wants to join.....

@Dingo @Sven Migot
Were you wearing a black shirt, passed two separate times this AM, I was wearing a red and black royal jersey, purple bike, but was out by 10am, covered about 15 miles. Mostly on the white sierra trail. Nice earth day event there with The Nerds providing entertainment, if we already didn't have plans would have been a great way to finish off a Sunday at trailside museum

COOL!
A few memories, from my childhood. Ice skating the entire length of Surprise lake, must have been during the ice age....
and climbing the water tower to the top. Are the stairs still there? and some kid that jumped off the top of the tower...sad .
Also there used to be a lean-to campsite that we camped at in Boy Scouts. The lean-to's are still there but rotten. Spent a lot of my youth there partying as well. The stairs going up to water tower are long gone. That was the dumbest place to smoke weed. Cops would see cars in that lot at 9pm on a Saturday night and walk up to the water tower and catch us .

Dave maybe you and @pooriggy hooked up in the Boy Scouts?

Ha! Scouts were too controlled..... parents making decisions about what they think is best. Not me, I was a renegade trail blazer back then..

At least that is how i remember it..

My troop was 160 out of Roselle. The leaders/adults where nice to donate there time to take a bunch of snot nose kids camping...but they were somewhat naive or didn't care that we were smoking and drinking every chance we could. Friday night after setting up camp we would go on a night hike and come back very giddy.

Cannot wait to get a few loops in this place.
I moved to Fanwood from Manhattan in the summer of 1982, and was bit of a loner in middle school so spent lots of time riding to the reservation to fish. didn't go deep past the stream as always had my bike and gear. Lots of new territory discovered today though often found a familiar memory not far away. Will definitely be back to check out the other trails. good times...

Where's this water tower?

I think it's premature to assume the park is WFO for riding & discussion personally.
agreed, since the Union cty park system has yet to designate the reservation as a mtb use trail, let's limit visibility
though I do like rehashing the yesteryears.

For twenty something years the planned rt78 was being fought to stop it from going through the res. The res lost the fight, and one of the agreements was that Surprise lake had to be dreached (sp) of all the construction run off. Don't think it ever happened.
They can put a 6 lane highway through, but it's mt bikes that cause erosion?

Has anyone tried to cross one of those deer overpasses the wildlife folks demanded to get the highway built? Everytime I look up at them I wonder if they are being used.
